Moneyball 2025 Prospect Draft

Okay gents, I think we have waited long enough for SOM to release the card set. Since the MLB season starts in less than 10 days I will go ahead and start the Prospect Draft tomorrow at 10:00am. Since there is no clock on the first round it shouldn't be a problem for folks if it takes a day or two to get the message. I am also going to open a thread for the 2025 contract decisions. While we haven't had the arbitration contracts settled yet, most teams do not have arbitration players so a few of us can get a head start on those extensions.

Section 3.02    The yearly prospect draft is 3 rounds, to be held immediately after each year's arbitration settlements have been completed, here after called Spring Prospect Draft.

Section 3.03    Prospect Eligibility: Prospects are defined as any player who has signed a contract with an MLB organization but who has no MLB experience prior to the start of the current SOM carded season. [Note, this means that players with no MLB experience prior to the 2024 MLB season, but who are carded in the SOM 2024 season, are still considered prospects and not free agents for the purpose of our annual prospect draft].

Section 3.05    There is no clock for round 1 of the spring prospect draft. Rounds 2 and 3 will operate with a 3-hour clock, 10am-10pm EST, Monday thru Friday. The Clock will be turned off over the weekend, but there is a strong preference for all owners to try and make timely picks over the weekend.

want to make sure that I have this correct. Anybody (like Schwellenbach) drafted here cannot play until season 2 (even if they are carded). I had that happen with Jhoan Duran and Bobby Dalbec in the past. Just making sure it hasn't changed.

Can we please speed this up at least a little bit. I don't think it's unreasonable to not want to be stuck on a given pick for days on end, and I don't think the entire league has been emailed about these threads or is aware of them. We are rapidly approaching opening day. Just my 2c

This is my fault. I didn't send an email reminder to those who may not monitor the boards until today. Hopefully the message will get out and the draft, and contract extensions, will pick up steam.

Good grief, last year they played 2 Japan games (March 20-21, 2024) and the real regular season started March 28. The majority of contract decisions were made between March 24-30, and no one got uptight about it. This year the exact same thing is happening (dates may be different), and it's the end of the world if contract decisions aren't made BEFORE the Japan games. Help me to understand the difference between last year and this year.

I'll get my prospect pick in today to ease the panic attacks. Since cards had not dropped, I had no inkling the rules would change, why would I, this is not a thing this league does, and frankly it's not a good look, no matter what the excuses are.
