I became the commissioner of this league, previously called SDKL, in December 2023 because Bigmahon lost his sight and was unable to continue.
I've never really grasped or seen the benefit of the "Prospect Keeper" part of this league. It feels gimmicky to me. Some of you may like it - I respect that. But on a 40-team roster, it's pretty easy to stash a prospect for a couple years without it causing real pain on the roster. So, I just don't see the purpose, the benefit of it.
I also realized during this draft that the league sheet is not set up properly. If y'all look at your rosters, you'll see that the number of prospects you have is incorrect - it does not reflect the "Keeper" listed WAAAAAYYYYYY down at the bottom. The roster doesn't pick the keeper up in the total.
I can fix the roster so it picks it up, but it A) has led to problems tracking roster counts for me, B) to Palmtana's point, is VERY EASY to miss way down at the bottom of the roster, separate from the other prospects.
All that said, I'd love to see the Prospect Keeper go away. But it is not my league, it belongs to y'all. If someone wants to put it to a vote, that's fine.
In the meantime, here is the deal. I completely understand how a newcomer to the league (like me, Palmtana, and a couple of others) could very easily miss the Keeper at the very bottom of the roster. I'm going to allow Bob to drop Herz and promote Riley. If anyone else wishes to promote a prospect and drop their last draft pick, I'll allow that as well.
If some think this is unfair, or playing favorites, please speak your mind. I don't see it that way, and I've made my decision, but I still want to hear your thoughts.
If y'all like the Prospect Keeper and want it to remain a part of the league, we can do that. I will be reworking the spreadsheet in some way that makes the "Keeper" much more visible among the other prospects, and will also include the "Keeper" in the prospect totals.
Thanks,
Sean
