Destructive?

PostSat Aug 25, 2012 5:00 pm

You know a few things to consider about whether these type threads are meant to be destructive.

It's a lot about where you've come into this and what you've been through, what the community has been through that gives you your perspective. If you've seen the play Wicked you know what I mean. Once you understand how the wicked witch of the west, got to be the wicked witch of the west, you wouldn't think she 's wicked at all...So while my friend macnole doesn't need a history lesson I'll continue in hopes that some find it helpful....Personally I've been here 10+ and have helped when asked i.e. bullpen V2 and repricing of ATGv 3.5 and offered countless other times as well. I fought long and hard for things, but never started out looking to fight, it just seemed it had to escalate to that far too often before things got fixed.

5 times in 10+ years I was offered a free credit for what I thought was a grievous error (relatively speaking) and 3 of the 5 times I said it wasn't necessary "I was happy enough with their prompt response and genuine concern" and of course I've voiced plenty of displeasure at what I consider serious failings by management of one type or another.

Now I see these boards full of unhappy customers, unhappy posts, fed up, angry etc...The boards have always been a place to vent...but it's never been this bad...and some think that's "our fault".. really?

Now if you've come to these forums around the time Dorothy came to Oz you probably think I'm the wickedest witch of the west...I'm sure pissy lately...and fed up....I really would like to see Management do their job...or lose their job...But my intent is "not" to be destructive....Have any of you ever seen or been part of an intervention? Most come after you've exhausted all other possibilities...And boy, people are sure saying lotsa hurtful things to someone they are supposed to care about...sounds very destructive to me....but it not the people intervening being destructive, it's that poor guy catching all the hell, he's the destructive one....This place is being taken down by terrible management, and not the people pointing that out, with posts like this.

The history of how we got to this point does indeed matter.

Please consider that as Nev says- we have exhausted and I mean exhausted the encouraging approach.

If you havent been around to see how things have unfolded for a while then you really cant understand what it is we are even protesting- why we seem constantly upset and negative.
Its not simply a matter of disliking change.

Yeah, before the changeover, I had had between 15 and 20 teams running for months and months. I think my peak was about 23. But I'm down to 6 now, and until they get their act together, I will be playing the Barnstormers' and my 24 team current day keeper league. That's it, HAL, all you get from me is 8 or 9 teams a year, until you realize that

Searched Amazon for it but apparently not available on DVD.

Did the one free credit cure all this ill will? I find it odd that virtually all the significant complaints ceased with the award of a credit. Censored?

I think as much as the free credit was the email that was sent to everyone that in effect said we are listening. That along with the promise therein to pay more attention and have that John guy occasionally visit the boards with an update.

I personally want to see the talk backed up by actions over time. But I think the major change in attitude on the boards following that really drives home the fact that so many were just wanting to know someone was listening and would be dialoging with the community. The almost immediate change in tone by so many is a good illustration of just how valuable and powerful communication can be. Even if people do disagree they are usually happier if they at least know you are listening. Hopefully Strato has noticed and will maintain the effort. :D

wow. from "never playing again" and dozens of vitriolic posts daily...to ... nothing... over a "we are listening" gesture and a credit. OK, I misread.

You know guys, I've been around for most of the storied history of strato online (since atg2) and I simply don't remember it ever being so dramatic. :D

I've at times definitely got mad at some of the hiccups of strato-online, really mad, but guys when you think about it, the in the last 2 months of the transition we've seen more additions and upgrades than in the past few years. Really. It hasn't been instantly but its been there. Prices are now lower than ever. Communication with strat is pretty bad right now but i just don't see where TSN/Strato assaulted us???

Things could be better, things could be worse. Writing slanderous things on the boards that many new players and old vets will see and be influenced by WILL NOT IMPROVE THE GAME. It'll kill sales, lower enthusiasm, investment, etc.

I want to see this game do well so bad. I'm just 20 years old and love strat and would really like to see for it to live on. Having said that, positive energy and civility are the best ways to help the game.

What we should do is define what it is we want improved or more seriously, changed. Communication is something I for one would like to see more effort put into. Still, we need well defined goals that both the developers and customers can agree on. I say:

1. Remove the fanta-sim cards.
2. Increase the price of HR's and OBP or more broadly, OPS.

1 is something that could be done overnight and requires no rewiring of the game. 2 is obviously something a little more time intensive but there's no reason STRATOMATIC's version of this game should be the same as TSN's decaying version IE fantasim cards. Those cards really need to go.
