small ball players I've never used ...

PostMon Sep 03, 2012 2:54 pm

I'm in a franchise-based theme league, and wound up a bunch of pre-WWII players from St. Louis and Pittsburgh. Lots of cards I've never tried before ... just wondering about experiences with:

Medwick -- never seen either his 9 mil or 6 mil card used. I suspect there's a reason for that.
Jesse Burkett, Heine Manush, Enos Slaughter -- Burkett esp. seems like a solid, reasonably priced top-of-lineup hitter.
Baby Doll Jacobsen -- maybe he's only good against lefties?

Howie Pollet -- for the price, his card looks pretty good on the Diamond Dope reader. Can't figure out why he's rarely used.

medwick's 8 mil card is the poor mans a.simmons. good card.

i haven't used jacobson's card since ATG3, but used to get decent numbers from him in smallball parks.

Medwick and Burkett almost always have put up good numbers for me. Manush has done only slightly less well than those two, but Slaughter invariably has sucked.

Heine Manush is a solid card for the salary

I grab him when I miss out on the usual suspects

Medwick has ALWAYS been aces for me. Always lands in top 10 for hits in each league. Love his card

Sounds like Medwick is a keeper. Anyone have experience with the 6 million card?

the 6 mil card has worked for me in the past 60% of the time. however, the 8 mil card has never let me down. i recommend using the 8 mil card.
