Theme league

I have never set up a theme league before and i am tired of the milquetoast leagues. So i am going to throw this out there. I am hoping to re-invigorate the communication and chatter that used to exist on the pages. With the "New Deal" hopefully some players will want to throw a team into the ring.

serpentine draft of 3 rounds.

U have 3 choices with each pick, but once a choice is used it is no longer an option.
1. U must pick the hitting of one team
2. U must pick the pitching of one team
3. One round can be used on a player that has not been selected.

No roster restrictions thereafter. No requirements to keep a certain number of carded players. Hopefully free for all trading.

This can be done in any order. If in round 2 u pick Jacoby Ellsbury as a player pick instead of a team choice, the Red Sox are still available as a Hitting team without Ellsbury.

This will hopefully lead to a lot of draft strategy and have a great trickle down effect. All the players leftover will be available in a waiver situation thereafter. If any sees barriers to the guidelines please advise. Otherwise, please give it a try.

Based on the draft and if everyone complies with what teams/player they live draft ever team will get all the players they had on their AD card which means the waiver priority ranking will be completely a random event.

Can I assume -- or hope -- that we have free choice of which ballpark we choose?

Hey Toronto, to Randy's point, it would be a luck of the draw auto-draft pick after the 3rd round. May I suggest a 2 round extra player draft? That at least gives everyone a chance at plugging a couple holes without the luck (or lack thereof) of the auto-draft. Plus you would have a more balanced closed-ended serpentine draft.

i am certainly in favor of a multi-round draft after the first 3 steps. this of course means we will start playing in november though. i was unsure if autodraft or frenzy would work better. so please place auto/frenzy beside ur team name.

as i mentioned i dont generally set up leagues because i am not that creative, or logical..or etc..i am just trying to up participation,interaction and creativity.

Unless I miss my bet, if everyone only puts the players on their draft card (it doesn't matter which 25: If I have the Astro hitters and Met pitching and nobody else puts on their draft card ANYAstro hitters or Met pitchers then there will be no conflicts. None of us are going after ANY of the same players legally.

We do this all the time in such specialty leagues and it works.

So, no need really for anything except the three rounds, because once the auto-draft runs, you can swap your own players up and down the draft with no consequence until Opening Day.

Frenzy would still be autodraft, BUT if we choose Frenzy there would be no WAIVERS, and we could start wheeling and dealing immediately.

The fun of these leagues is the trading. It is VERY brisk all season long, but especially during the post auto-draft period.
