Petition: Let's get rid of the Fanta-sim cards

Hey guys, so I just made a post about how the best way for us to make surenStrat-O-Matic nurtures its online game to its full potential is for us to provide it with well defined and achievable goals. Over the past few years and especially recently, many (if not all of us) have used these boards to gripe about perceived flaws in the game or how Steve Garvey hits so many walk off homeruns against us. (maybe thats just me) Constructive criticism is a great thing and I'm sure Strat will be happy to listen but we just have to stay constructive.

The fact is the game is improving significantly over a fairly short period of time. We've gotten all the cards we wanted, now have more intuitive stats than ever before and the price dropped! Improvements can be made though.

So, here's my first proposal that is incredibly to implement and would go farther in bettering the game than anything. Remove the fant-sim cards from ATG. First of all, these are not real cards. They are a perverse creation that was never intended to be played with against actual cards. The truly great fanta-sim cards have warped the meta game unlike anything before. Arky Vaughan provides something that has never existed in the history of baseball. A power hitting lefthanded shortstop. Power hitting is an understatement as this card regularly goes on to hit .410 60 homers and a +.500 OBP. Eddie Mathews hits 80 homers with ease and Bill Dickey should be about 13 million. They're all really underpriced and crazy dangerous. Bottom line: their ATG performances trump their real life performance by an unprecedented magnitude and they shatter any hopes of position or talent scarcity thus raising league ERA's to alarmingly high levels.


I believe that All-Time-Great should remove all fantasim cards from its player database.

The Arky Vaughn card is a menace. It has to go. Ernie Banks is now sitting on waivers in 140 mil leagues. Who needs it when Vaughn hits like Babe Ruth?

Ed Mathews already had a fine card, with no need for the new one. It just skews the data. It should go too, although it's less of a disruption than Vaughn.

I'm not convinced that Dickey's new card is a disruption on the same level, but a price increase might be in line, up to about 12.5 mil. It regularly outhits Joe Mauer's card, and I don't buy that. Dickey should be priced above Mauer, just below Gibson.

Vaughn should just go, though. The guy who gets him has a ridiculous advantage. It's like winning the lottery.

There should be more position scarcity at key spots. I'm not crazy about Hugh Duffy either. Mays and DiMaggio are no longer as worth a 1st round pick with him around.

Funny how no one mentions the fanta-sim Lajoie card.

Don't get rid of them yet. I finally got my hands on Vaughan.

Thanks Nev, good point. If the cards fantasim it should go and Lajoie's 12 mil card is fantasim. For me at least I know I feel that card outperforms its real numbers less than the other 3 so I often forget about it. It may overachieve but the guy did hit .426 with a triple crown that year and he we truly an ATG so its less of an outrage. Still he should go.

Come on guys, if you agree sign the "petition". IF we get enough signatures, Strato will have to get rid of these TSN abominations.

I'll sign the petition if they bring back Fantasim. I'm one of 11 owners sitting in a league in limbo and they won't even have the courtesy to tell us whether they're keeping or dumping the game. Return the cards to Fantasim, and turn the power back on while you're at it.
