That of the FIVE IRod cards listed in the nineties set, that one is the worst?

I'm not comparing it to his other cards in the 90s set (that has no meaning to me). I'm comparing it to his existing ATG cards. That's the whole point of Andy spending time doing the stats.

1996 Ivan Rodriguez, TEX, Bats-R, BAL-2L, C-1(-4)e1, 3 Game INJ Risk (1 INJ Rating)
LH—2b-8 3b-0.5 HR-8.8 BB-0 .348/.354/.677, 1.031 OPS
RH—2b- 10.1 3b-0.4 HR-0.5 BB-0 .314/.320/.429, .750 OPS

1999 Ivan Rodriguez, TEX, Bats-R, BAL-2L, C-1(-5)e1, 3 Game INJ Risk (1 INJ Rating)
LH—2b-0 3b-0 HR-8.2 BB-0 .365/.365/.593, .958 OPS
RH—2b-5.4 3b-0 HR-9.6 BB-0 .388/.388/.705, 1.093 OPS
2000 Ivan Rodriguez, TEX, Bats-R, BAL-2L, C-1(-5)e1, 15 Game INJ Risk (4 INJ Rating)
LH—2b-0 3b-2.3 HR-17.5 BB-0 .400/.405/.932, 1.337 OPS
RH—2b-13.5 3b-1.6 HR-10.4 BB-0 .421/.426/.868, 1.294 OPS
2003 Ivan Rodriguez, TEX, Bats-R, BAL-2L, C-3(-4)e1, 15 Game INJ Risk (1 INJ Rating)
LH—2b-12.8 3b-1 HR-1.9 BB-19 .429/.540/.665, 1.205 OPS
RH—2b-6.4 3b-0.4 HR-4 BB-8 .288/.354/.482, .836 OPS

ALSO- yes, do look at the ratings- even though Vet 10 doesn't tell the whole story, you at least get a, forgive the pun, ballpark idea of what the card can do.

Right, Salty. As just a "ballpark" example, a card from the crazy offensive 1930 season or from the 1968 Year of the Pitcher is a product of its context. In ATG, we take them OUT of their original context, meaning that a 1930 card or 1968 card may play differently than what a cursory reading of the player's Baseball-Reference page may suggest.

The more I play, the more I see the potential value of particular pieces currently in short supply in the card box. To wit:
    Lefty-hitting catchers
    Moderate-reverse slant SP, especially lefties
    Hard-reverse slant RP
Lefty hitting CF (although this is starting to be fulfilled)
Middle infielders slanted to the R

And since I play the $80M format, the budget versions of same are especially prized.

When voting, I favor the criteria above and faces that would be new in the box. I care nothing about franchise depth.

The 24.1 ballot might be the weakest I've seen since I started playing. Reaching saturation? Maybe.

To be fair. I don’t think anyone is excited to add Jeff Reed to the set. I voted for him because I like new guys to pay with but he doesn’t move the needle for anyone.

No question that Jeff Reed is the thing not like the others on the ballot.

But as a low-priced, lefty hitting platoon catcher with some pop, would Jeff Reed add value to the set and be rostered frequently?

Over and over again.

He and I thank you for your vote.

can't wait to play teams that use the Chili Davis card! he's got 27 GIDP's chances against RHPs.

I think we're long overdue for a better Harrleson card. Lots of right on right power for lower cap leagues. Too many DPs, but he will still get used.

Re the franchise depth comment, many of us do care. And there are still plenty of players who had decent (or better) big league careers with no card in the set.
