Weird Team Names

How could anyone have the audacity to name a team the "Lord God Birds"?

Google the name...

and you will learn it is (or was) a real bird, thought extinct, that
has supposedly been sighted in Arkansas near my hometown.
Scientific expeditions are imminent.

The woodpecker has a 19" wingspan, is bigger than a crow,
and is black and white with a bright red crested head. The name came
when many who saw the huge red-headed woodpecker exclaimed, "Lord God, look at that bird!"

A funny aside. Our local college, my alma mater, Arkansas
State University is one of the schools the NCAA has told to
change its' mascot from "Indians" to something else. Our
team colors are already red, white and black. The joke is
that we should rename our team the Arkansas State
University Woodpeckers (or better yet, the Peckerheads :lol:)

I'm waiting for the NCAA to tell Syracuse that their name is deprimental to oranges and they have to change their name . :)

How about all the teams with Demons or Devils in them , if you can't say GOD then you shouldn't be able to say Devil or Demon either .

I'd like to know why the Fighting Irish are OK. Seems like a pretty agressive nickname to me.
My school, USC Trojans should have to change it's team names too, after all, sports teams shouldn't be named after condoms, lol.

I have to nominate bunzos' Man Rams, short for Manny Ramirez, but taken alone is the single gayest team name I have seen.

My latest effort is named ... A SS BACKWARDS CROSS DRESSERS.

The pitchers are all cross dominant players (i.e. LHP's who are better against righty batters, RHP's who are better against lefty batters).

And then the batters are all better against their same sided pitchers.
