$.75 20-game winners

I've never had a 20 win season from a .75M pitcher but I did have a 30 save season (also 9-1) from Bill Dawley once, with a 2.60 ERA and .89 WHIP. I hestitate to mention this again, since having spoken about his performance on a previous thread, I've since found Dawley to be extremely [b:8e6a11e281]hard[/b:8e6a11e281] to draft. :cry:

So let me just point out that I have never seen Dawley anywhere near this good before or since. :D

One thing to look for among cheap pitchers is their K-IP ration. Read some more Bill James stuff this week, and he noted that successful pitchers have K averages per 9 inns. at or above the league averages (there are some exceptions, but they are singular). Of course, this ain't real life, and the years are documented, but K pitchers, in general are more valuable, since a K puts a stop to all offensive movement.

OK...so I was struggling to find a 4th starter in a league I'm in. On the testimony above, I give Rick Waits a test drive. He pitches a complete game giving up only 1 run. Do not...I repeat...do not hurt this man until my season is over. Thanks. :D

This was Mike Caldwell on my very first team TSN 121. I've had him on about a dozen teams since. Several good seasons, but nothing approaching this level of performance. 21-3 for 750K, what a bargain!!
