Eddie,

I did take a look at your team, so did Wineman, but just didnt' see anything that would work. Sorry man. Still, it's a bit early to jump ship on your team. It's just sooo tough to improve by cutting.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what Melvin brings to the table eh? ;)

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. I really, really didnt want to do the drop/add thing but it didnt appear that I had a good match for any of the other teams. I felt I was making changes a tad early but when I kept seeing totals of one run or two runs and being shutout regularly.... well, my four starters all had ERA's under 3.5 and I was playing sub .333 baseball. Anyway, I hope to score a few more runs but with a team that is nowhere near 60 mil it will still be tough to come back.

If I cant field a competitive team then at least you guys will have fun beating up on me. That's something anyway.

Losing Cap thru add/drop is brutal in 60M - It seems you get 1 chance to make changes.(Hopefully minor) After that your pretty much at the mercy of the luck of the rolls - which over 162 games isn't always necessarily in one's favor. I would imagine ther will be some major trading before this league is done. SWP

Sorry I've been away, trying to get ready for the start of a Live Draft league.

Yeah, trading is the way to go, but it can be hard to do too.

as for us, our big investment in Lidge is just killing us. He's leading the league in losses and has blown numerous games. Course, our pen overall has been brutal. I don't * think * they're this bad so we'll wait it out. Hopefully we haven't dug too deep a hole. We're already 7 back! Still a llong way to go and our pitching isn't gong to be this bad all season and our hitting is going to be better I think. We *should* be one of the top offensive teams in the league I would think.

well Mora seems to have helped, Wizards took 2 out of 3 from me. It is not unusual to drop a player and improve in 60 mil, but I think the Wizards are at their limit. I dropped Leiter and got a LT starter and RT starter for the money. It is clear the Ada Aces are the team to beat in my division and I had to change my arm ratio in order to even PRETEND to have a chance.

This is not the normal 60 mil league, usually more money is spent on offense. Even I spent more on pitching than I like, what was I thinking. :?: I would have dropped Leiter before the season but Brown got snatched up and then not released until after my season started.

I usually do not play in PETCO and I never will again unless I go back to very cheap pitchers and lots of offense. that is doubtful, I just put together a team for standard league from all I learned in this league. You guys are on the ball.

In 60 mil leagues, I have noticed the arm of the pitcher (LT or RT) comes into play more than in other salary levels. Usually one great pitcher and one great hitter is ideal, like Santana and Guerrero. Ah, but it appears that a Santana, Clemens, and Guerrero team is even better.

Crawford is doing way better than I have ever seen before so I would not count out the Wizards unless they continue to drop.

Personally a Lidge is too expensive for me in 60 mil. Isringhausen and Smoltz is usually the most you have to pay for a closer. I think Brad doesn't see game 142 for you, no matter how much he turns around. I'd go with Cordero and buy even more offense.

One strong move is usually okay to get away with in 60 mil. I was 6-9 when I dropped Leiter. I had miscalculated the LT/RT arm ratio for winning, thinking I would need more LT starters when I really needed another RT arm. Hence, Brown is in with Wolf to replace Leiter's LT arm and 16-11 is the result. I am going to have to change my intentional walk settings, which I almost NEVER do, to see how they work against the Aces, but I doubt anything will help. I will have to do alot of injury manipulation just to stay at .500 and be happy for that.

I lost my last game and Kevin Brown gave me 8 innings of relief with no earned runs, lost on a Todd Zeile pass ball in the 19th inning. I probably would have lost the game anyway as Brown starts the 9th inning of relief tired/fatigued but that is the cost of having Todd Zeile to play first, HAL sticks him in as a third catcher....oh well.

The season is young. In 60 mil leagues I have seen a team go from 13 games under .500 at game 81 all the way to the world championship. The right tweak changes everything.

Well, the logic for us taking Lidge was that we were going to need some relieving with the so-so starters. That part has panned out, but didn't figure on Lidge going 3-6 with 5 blown saves in the first 40 games! That 1.69 ratio is a bit unexpected also. If he does the opposite, we're right there with the Aces. I'm sure he'll turn it around and I think we will when he does.

Really the only thing we're unhappy with on this team is our D. We may look to drop or trade to improve that.

It's hard to believe that our pitching is *this* bad given how poor most of the other team's offense is. So, in that light we are bringing in a new pitching coach. Here's a picture at the press confernence. http://neuromancerwp.free.fr/Catherine%20Bell%2006%20-%201280.png

We think she can turn things around for our staff. ;)

Res, tough way to lose in 18 innings. Ouch.[/url]

Trading for Ichiro and adding Mora should help my inept offense quite a bit. However, Mora hasnt done a thing so far but we will wait on him. Like Lidge, his card is much better than his performance to date. With the bad draft I had, I dont expect to win the division or even make the playoffs but it sure would be fun to be competitive.

It will be interesting to see how the big trades pan out for the three teams. What about the other two involved in the trades??? What say you?

As for us, we're hoping for the die rolls to even out a bit. I've looked around, but haven't seen a move that I thought would help us. Yet. ;)

Stay tuned,

I basically just got impatient...

Felt some kind of change was necessary and dealt my most expensive player to try to get something going. Hopefully it will work out for everyone involved. I really think being at Fenway with 3 LH Power BP's in my Division has really had an adverse affect. I don't have very high expectations of this team. So I like to experiment with players I haven't yet tried out. :?

Dang, I spent a big chunk of money on Abreu and he's underachieving big time.
