Many people come on here and ask - Is it ethical to rest starters before playoffs if it impacts other races? Should I play for home field or rest my starters? Well, my friends, here is the definitive, unquestioned answer:

Absolutely right, you play first to win, then all those other things.

I lost Honus once for the playoffs when HAL used him as a pinch-hitter on the last day in the 9th inning of a blow-out, despite having all those "do not" boxes checked.

I think the only team anybody should worry about is there own.If resting a G.Brett or a H.Wagner when you have your playoff spot set is what you want to do then you should rest them.In the NFL when a team has there playoff situation set they usually don't play there Q.B. in the last game.It's the same thing they want there important players healthy for the playoffs.Clinching early is something you earned during the season and the reward is the luxury of resting injury prone players,you shoudn't have to apoligize for doing whats best for your team.Jusy my 2 cents.-olwill

I use many 15 game injury types and it is annoying when they go down but if the result of a game I am playing is going to affect who will make the playoffs I will always play my best players.

I never know if it is too smart but I hate to see someone make it because someone else by virtue of how the schedule works out gets the bench when the series before he had to play against the studs.

I have become immune tho to injury reports.

As far as other players I never worry what they are doing because their actions and decisions are beyond my control.

Well I didn't follow my own advice,but it was for selfish reasons for my club.My Bandit Aces were 15 up with 6 to play,but I also had 97 wins.Well I've never won 100 and I played my starters last night going for that 100 win season.I lost 2 of 3 and in the process lost R.Clemente for 9 more games.thats 4 games into the playoffs I won't have him.I didn't do what was best for that team and it cost me.now W.Moses will play RF for me in the playoffs @#$%^&*.-olwill

For my .02 worth, I try to follow the "do unto others" rule. It gets to me when somebody flushes their bench against my rival. Maybe it shouldn't, but it just does.

Don't feel too bad olwill. I have never had a 100 win team either, and I would have done the same thing in your situation. I think it's harder to get a 100 win team than make the playoffs although I don't know the actual odds of it. Perhaps Nev or Bobby, guys that have a ton of games under their belt know that one!
