Wouldn't a simpler way of avoiding these scenario's be to adjust the BP effects?? I mean, a forbes, griff, etc...gives such a HUGE advantage to GREAT pitchers, that these types of things are bound to occur.

Why not have NO BP effects...can you imagine?? Just trying to get the best players, regardless of their BPHR's, right to left bias, etc.....

Pretty boring eh??

Even on the WhatIf Sports site, somebody posted:

"It's what if Sandy Koufax pitched to Babe Ruth. It's not what if pigs had wings."

There's lots of ways of preventing this kind of ridiculousness. If TSN gave a sheet about this game, they would. But they don't, so they won't.

I have no problem with customers who do it. In fact, I encourage it. Then people complain, and TSN realizes maybe they should do something.

You know who to write to, RiggoDrill.

To Be Clear

Postby nevdully's » Fri Oct 21, 2005 2:18 pm

To be clear on my thoughts....

I'm not against this strategy in any way.

However in addressing this quote..

[quote:8ff844e0e2]It would be a different story if the strategy worked spectacularly well and unbalanced the game in an unrealistic way. But it doesn't seem to based on the leagues I have been in. We need to encourage more players to adopt strategies that place them under .500!
[/quote:8ff844e0e2]

My point was to show that this strategy can be effective. Not any more, or less, than the players in it, and the Manager running it.

While I agree with O.T. that there is no unfair adavtage to this strategy, I wanted to show Petrosian (his quote, perhaps tongue -in-cheek, or only half serious) that it is also not neccessarily a strategy that places them under .500

I pretty sure Chief Wahoo would not agree with that. :)

EXAMPLE

Here's another owner who I've been in many leagues with. He's usually very successful and to my knowledge ONLY uses this strategy......

He always selects Polo and plays in DH leagues. His record here is 90-48

I ain't mad at him. I don't avoid leagues he's in. I don't think he has any unfair advantage. I don't think this needs to be fixed. I'm just sharing information......I just play
