Had enough of 1969 already!

Did my second autodraft tonight and no more, there just aren't enough players in 1969 to build any kind of team. So I think I am finished over there, any other comments or thoughts?

Ahhh, the die hard ATGers with the blinders on speak.
Yes, its true that 1969 is just an old version of the 200x games. And, there wont be any teams with 1's all over the field. However, the pitching is priced much better than any version we have been offered yet. The top notch hitters are over-priced tho.
I guess, being a die hard tradionalist myself, I am going to be one of the few TSN_SOM members that plays every version they offer, one of the few that actually love the '69 version.
I was afraid that this was going to happen with this version, and, I forsee it to be its downfall....
1. ATGers don't want a "regular" baseball team, they want an All-Star game, everygame
2. 200Xers (or, younger members) won't dare traverse outta thier genre. They won't play, what is exactly the same version they are playing now (- the 9 pitcher rule), because they never heard of 3/4 of the players.

I disagree, ATGers want the ability to put together a competitive team even if the draft doesn't go their way. From what I've seen in the 200x games, if you don't have a good draft (and admittedly, this is part of being a good manager) there is virtually no chance of rescuing your team, given the limited player pool. You are also at the mercy of those managers who purchase rating software, evaluations programs, number crunching databases, etc. to determine optimal team construction, etc.
I can see how the 200x and 1969 would be fine with a live draft, perhaps, but in normal auto leagues, It just doesn't do it for me.
Another "advantage" of ATG is the virtually endless variety of themes , experimental teams, different approaches to team construction, etc. you can try. If I want to put together a team of players who's mother's first name was Mary, chances are you could actually do that with the ATG player pool. Just ask Chief Wahoo! (aka Muttdoc).

Trust me, in 1969, EVERYBODY has a bad draft, lol. And, yes, if people go out and get the ratings disk and what-not, they have an advantage. But, not all the raw data always transfers to the game.

I almost posted similar sentiments on the 1969 board
The thing about ATG is the depth of the player pool at ALL levels. Don't want an All-Star team? then play a 50K or 60K league. For every player you don't get there are at least a half dozen alternatives.
1969 simply doesn't have enough players for an $80 million cap IMHO. For a Live draft - maybe. But for an auto draft - no. Lots of money left over with no reasonable place to spend it.
All in all it equates to the "why would I want to pay money to do this?" and the "Having done this, why would I want to do it again?" attitude that many seem to be developing towards the game.
Don't see the 1969 game developing much of a repeat audience.
