Had enough of 1969 already!

It depends on why you play the game. If you are a middle age guy that wants to see his childhood heroes come to life then you enjoy 1969. Younger guys are enjoying the 80s game and current baseball fans enjoy the 200x games.

ATG appeals to us historians that enjoy competing with Hall of Famers as well as those that are just in it to win by building the best mathematically correct team.

[quote:62800aa537="Leo / loob"]Trust me, in 1969, EVERYBODY has a bad draft, lol. And, yes, if people go out and get the ratings disk and what-not, they have an advantage. But, not all the raw data always transfers to the game.[/quote:62800aa537]

Try a 24 team draft. I think the bad drafts started about the fourth round. Talk about slim pickings. :D

Martin

My first two teams just started lst night so I haven't had a chance to see how they play out yet.

Actually, I'm not middle aged, less I am only living till I'm 60......

Again, people say about the player pool, remember, there were only 24 teams in 1969, not 53, that is less than HALF THE PLAYER POOL. Of course there are going to be holes, hell, there are holes in every lineup.

I will say again, even to those that call themselves "historians". This game is about history, less you were born from WW2 to just before Korea, than, it still is childhood stuff.

Never in History has a team averaged 6 runs a game

1969 may not be for those that call themselves historians....

Maybe its just for traditionalist that enjoy a good 2-1 game. Hell, I hate the "new, improved" NHL, course, being a Devils fan, guess I would hate 6-7 goals a game.

Its all about playing to a seasons particular strength. 200x is all about hitting. ATG can be hitting or pitching, just depends on your mood, hell, the player pool is soo deep, you can change your mind 3 times during preseason, and still field a competitive team. 1969, unless your extremely lucky in the draft, is going to be all about pitching.

Just the way it is.

Also, like I said before, least ya tried it. We should try all the versions offered to us. I prefer ATG, I can play 200x (usually 5-8 teams a season), I did the 80's (got bored after 10 teams), would like to play a 70's or 60's version, I have 5 teams current in '69, and am enjoying the traditional feel of real baseball.

We all have our likes/dislikes, but lets not poo-poo on any version that TSN offers, cause we keep doing that, and soon enough, there won't be any new versions coming cept the 200X genre games.

I've got three teams running and four credits in the bank, and I look forward to using them all.

ATG is my favorite, but '69 offers a totally different experience. More platoons, accepting bad defenders, some different ballpark options, and players I remember from when I was a kid, all without any *#@% "mystery card": what's not to like?

In the '80's game, you draft a player, and he has 5 possible seasons of cards you draft. You do not know which one you are getting...hence the "mystery card" moniker.....

I don't see myself buying 200 teams in a year for the 1969 game...If I play 20 teams it will be a miracle. I would love to see ATG III come out with another 10-12 teams.....Just my thoughts...Bobby

No, no, no 200 teams here either, hell, not even the 65 or so I have in ATG, but I can forsee 15 or so for myself. 5-8 teams to get familiar with all the players, then....

a few teams just for records

I have done two live drafts and two autodrafts, could maybe see participating in a $60 live or autodraft, otherwise can see doing much else.

I did enjoy the live drafts, one at $80M and one at $100M much more, than the two $80M autodrafts.

I love all the games even the 80's. I think 69 will gain momentum with the 00 players soon because the burnout with the current set is setting in and they will turn to 69. I don't expect it to have a long run of success though because the set will get stale in 8 mo or so just like a 00 set does. It does not surprise me that it does not appeal to many here.
