Proxies are great but can get you in trouble if not used properly.
Lets say you want a RP for your next pick in the draft and you would be happy with either Quisenberry, Holland or Sutter. You type in the last name in the FIND NAME field to get that player's ID number. You then type in the ID number of your first choice in the PLAYER ID box. Leave the ROUND box at zero. I don't use this box at all. Leave the GROUP box at 1. [i:e6201503b5]This means that this is the group of players you want for your next pick in the draft. If you were setting up two picks ahead you would change this box to 2 for your second group of players only.[/i:e6201503b5] Leave the PRIORITY box at 1 for your top choice. [i:e6201503b5]You would change this to 2 for your second choice, 3 for your 3rd choice, etc. [/i:e6201503b5] Alway change the DELETE IF GROUP PICKED box to YES. [b:e6201503b5]If you don't do this you can be burned.[/b:e6201503b5] With the box checked YES all the other proxies in group 1 would be deleted once you picked one of these RPs.
Lets say that you set your proxies for Quiz, Holland and Sutter because you wanted a RP next. If you didn't change the DELETE IF GROUP PICKED box to yes on these proxies you could end up with more than one of these RPs which could screw up your roster and salary cap, not to mention that you could miss out on some other player that you wanted to take instead. For example if no one had selected Quiz before your selection then the proxy would fire for you to get Quiz and the Holland and Sutter proxies would be deleted. If you didn't have the DELETE IF GROUP PICKED set to yes then you would also get Holland or Sutter for your next pick if they were still available.
You don't have to group players either. You could just list a SP, LF, 2B, or whatever in order. If it doesn't matter to you if you get more than one of these players then just list them in priority order and keep the DELETE IF GROUP PICKED box on no and you will get all of the players you list as long as they are still available.
The proxy tool is easy to use and understand but if not used properly can get you in trouble. I hope I have explained this process where it is easily understood. Please post any questions you may still have.
I love the proxy tool and use it all the time. But if you don't pay attention to how you are setting up your proxies it could bite you.
