I looked at all of the teams and out of a potential 1944 starts for the entire season, I'm guessing we'll see this many starts by lefties by each team...

That adds up to and estimated 708 starts by lefty pitchers - that's [b:abbe90a398]36%[/b:abbe90a398] of 1944. There are also quite a few lefty relievers, so I think a 65 / 35 splits of lefties and righties faced by batters may be more accurate for this league.

Average for entire league is [b:cde07e0612]37%[/b:cde07e0612], so overall seems that managers in this league prefer to load up on hitters. That said, due to all of the pitcher's parks, we've got a league ERA below 4.00.

With 45% spent on pitching, I think we would expect the [b:cde07e0612]HUMMERS [/b:cde07e0612]or [b:cde07e0612]MARIAS [/b:cde07e0612]to lead the league in pitching. Playing in Fenway '67 with 86% of salary allocated to batters, [b:cde07e0612]Cardinals [/b:cde07e0612]would seem like a lock to lead league in Runs Scored. Right now, [b:cde07e0612]Wonder Boys [/b:cde07e0612]are still beating the odds perched in #1 spot for Runs Scored.

Of course the Ball State Cardinals only recently converted to a primarily hitting team. Prior to that I was heavy pitching with 3 Finger, Coveleski and Guidry. I did not like my team after the trading deadline and I like it much better now, my pitching actually is not too worisome for me, I would rather have not lost the 1.5 million on the moves I made and put that in the hitting.

So far Bowa is hitting .351 and Ricki .185 so I think I have the wrong guy in leadoff! :shock:

Still at 50% of the rating strength of the top teams it does not appear I am headed for a very good season. Hopefully my emotional fanciful theories are luckier than the rational stat process.

As for Joe's ratings, I like how he grades offense, I like how he grades defense, but I am curious about the pitching. When looking at my team does it take into consideration the fact my bullpen should have as many innings as my starters? I hope not! I would also hope that my team can cause pitchers to be fatigued before their time, making them worse than their stats. It would be really helpful on this type of team if the bullpen controls actually worked so a stud reliever could be brought in the games where you have a late lead instead of settling with how HAL feels at the time. Certainly an advantage for the teams with the S9 pitchers where slow hook now REALLY works, probably one of the best advantages for small ball as the need for bullpen help which is already cheaper is now even less necessary.

My defense is also rating #5 and with Mays and Ruth and Bench I am hoping to throw out some runners on the path. And with so many runners double plays become more valuable. So far I have turned 52 double plays against a league average of 33 and second best of 40 saving my pitchers from facing 19 batters over the league average. But since those 19 would have hit about .300 against me I think the number of batters saved is probably closer to 28. I find Johnny Bench to be worth his weight in unrated gold in Bomber parks as the lack of passed balls and the ability to cut down runners along with a pure power hitting approach makes him improve team results much better than his stats.

My mistake at the start was in trying to make a primary pitching team, I should have stuck to my original idea I wouldn't have lost 5% of 30 million dollars. Mickey Mantle would be much better on this team than Mays.

Still I should lead the league handily in runs scored by season end unless Rickie, Johnny and Bobby get repeated trips to the hospital. I may also lead in losses and should according to Joe's rating so my goal is probably very Chicago Cub like! Any Pirate or Kansas City fans here?

Tonight we visit the only other Bomber park where Petrosian is on a giant streak and home streaks are very hard to break in ATGIII, should be even harder in this league and Rickie is out for the 1st 2 games with an eye cramp. Based on his YTD performance that may be a good thing. At least the scores should be high!

I actually have Cobb on one of my ATGIII teams! I think I had him two or three times out of 116 teams in ATGII. I always found him too expensive. Now, in ATGIII with pretty much everyone being expensive, I might try to use him more. I pretty much avoided any hitters over 7 mil in ATGII, unless I got a wild hair up my äss.

It will be interesting to see if Agate can continue playing so well at home, I would expect in this league, that's their best hope. Course, they continue to make moves it appears so I dont' know what that's done to their ratings.

Riggo – Thanks for the excellent analysis on the L/R split. As I expected. I’ll take a look at the ratings and see if someone maybe over/under rated due to this.

And it’s gone down! Course you’re also in the toughest division for pitching by the ratings and even by the stats so far, you’ve got the first and third teams in your division. It’s not your big three that are hurting you, but the other guys.

The other two top rated offensive teams are where you would expect, but Sam isn’t. :?

Of course, that’s true only if the pitchers are priced correctly and if defenses are all equal. By my ratings (combining P with D) the top three should be Monsters, D Kings and Marias. Course I made some assumptions about pitching (especially in RP usage) that might be not be true. Not sure why the Monsters and the D Kings are underperforming what I would expect so far.

I made some assumptions based on how strong or weak a starting staff was and tried to tweak the numbers accordingly, BUT, I didn’t spend a ton of time doing it either so they could be off a bit there. Maybe a little later in the season I’ll put in the actual numbers and see how they correlate.
