Division rivals play in Bennett 09, griffith and Baker 15.

12 starters I face - 5 are lefty, 7 righty.

Your lack of defense is what would make me worry. But, you are also a little light in the power department.

I've seen teams win in Griifth or Forbes with only 80 HR's. I could drop Meusel for Horton - that would give me more pop.

Defense I hadn't thought about too much. I have three 3's - the rest are 2 or 1.

Outside of Meusel and Weaver, my inclination would be to dump the rest of your lineup

I've played a few teams in Griffith and never been tempted by any of them

Unless you have some particular strategy you are testing, your park and starting staff dictate a pitching/defense team - else why put half your payroll into the rotation

Your goal here should be first and foremost to prevent the other team from scoring

Post a link for your team and you'll get I'm sure plenty of specific suggestions

I won a ring with less than 60 HR's. It's not that critical if everything else is right.

When I do a smallball team, I try for ALL "1's" on defense. You only have ONE as I recall, that's a big difference. Plus, outside of Meusel, you have bad arms (all +1's I believe) which makes matters even worse.

Oh yeah, [b:03d77e6065]don't drop Meusel[/b:03d77e6065]

You should upgrade the defense on Chief Meyers, get the highest price "1" shortstop available. Cut Doyle for a better defensive 2nd baseman (Doran or Evers?). Pick up a better CF Doby, Dom Dimaggio or even Fred Snodgrass or F. ALou if no other options available. Rice and Meusel should be OK. This is going to leave your team light on OBP. With 5 lefties in your divison you could go with a Bill WHite/Carney Lansford platoon and lead off Lansford against lefties. Bill White will give you defense and HR's in the bomber parks.

Yeah, what Charlie (gkhd11a) said. Listen to him -- he is the guru on griffith teams. He gave me advice and took me to 2 finals and 1 ring. In my championship team, I had 81 HRs and Gary Carter had half of them.
