18 of my 23 man 2001 team roster are still playing. Those 18 have a salary of $87.23MM. FIlling the remaining 7 slots with $0.50MM players gets me to $90.73MM

So, how would leaving 3 of the 18 off your list do? Would that allow you to have a viable team (recognize that we're all going to have wonky teams, because of the theme). If not, I'd suggest leaving off a max. of 5 players would be reasonable. As long as you fill in the spots with only post-2002 players.

BC, I think your suggestion works, and I'd add to that by recommending that charlie m2 not be limited to .5M replacement players but any player dropped has to be replaced by a player playing the same primary position. That would give price flexibility but stay within theme in terms of not being able to "get better" by swapping out a ss because you have 2 for a 2b because the one you have sucks. My 2 cents.

Makes sense. However, the point is to drop an expensive player to then get two less expensive players so I can fill my roster. If I drop an expensive 2B to drop salary, I'm happy to replace him with a post-2002 2B, but then I don't want to buy a second 2B with the remaining money.

If I drop a $9MM player at a certain position so that I can fill two spots, can I use all $9MM in any way I want? e.g., $4MM on a post-2002 at the same position and $5MM on any other position.

Yes, I think you can choose how you use the money. So, you would use some of the money to get a player at the same position, but that could be a 0.5 player if you want. I assume it wouldn't do you much good to drop a 9 million 3B and pick up two 3B for 4 and 5 mill. So replace the players with one player from the each position, but otherwise use the money to fill in your roster like the rest of us.

When you post your link to your original team after the autodraft you can let us know which players you left out.
