so far, who do you see performing great for their price? It's all relative of course, but just curious as to see which cards are doing well

Check out what I am getting out of Duane Josephson, I dropped tenace and am just letting him play. I know his arm is a noodle, but for .75 what the heck. http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/70s/team/team_other.html?user_id=238

Bob "Beetle: Bailey, got him on 2 teams, hitting close to .300 with an OBP above 350. Not much power, playing in Yankee Stadium and Royals Stadium. For the price I'll take the production. I got lucky and got his 73 season both times. I had very early injury reveals.

Take a look at Roosky's team in his post above. Tell me who is the better value Joe Morgan or Gary Templeton? Morgan's cards are great but I think he is priced at least a couple MIL too much.

Could Morgan end up being the 70's version of Dusty Baker in the 80's game? (Good player but priced too high.)

I agree. Morgan is priced too high. Cedeno too.

I'm not sure I agree with this. I think Morgan is priced very high. Too high for my blood so I am unlikely to use him much, but I think he will be used in every league as someone will be willing to pay the price.

The difference between Morgan and Baker is that there are better players than Baker at his price and comparable players to him at a lower price. That is not the case with Morgan, he is the best (along with Bench). So I think he will get used.

BTW, I love Baker. I never start a season with him, but when one of my higher priced players bombs out, or a higher priced pitcher, and I need to move down a couple of salary levels because the next tier players are all gone, that frees up enough money to pick up Dusty, and most of the time he is available, and while he is rarely spectaculer, he is very reliable.

Steve Braun as a LH DH seems to be value-priced (5 usable years), maybe platoon with Mike Vail ($1.15, 4 usuable years as RH DH).

Obviously, you'd need to pick up some LH power elsewhere, but going cheap on the DH might be a way to afford some higher-priced players.

Bill North as a LF might be a bargain too.

Then again, I'm pretty much .500 with the 4 teams I've started, and all are within a game or two of .500, so the only thing I can be sure of is that I know how to build a mediorce team.

I'd be happy with .500

Brohamer and RP Jim Ray

Postby Larryrickenbacker » Fri Feb 12, 2010 2:44 pm

Howdy,

Lefty 3rd sacker Jack Brohamer always punches above his weight for me. Well..most of the time. Astros RP Jim Ray has proven effective for me-for the money.
