explain my confusion. Just so happened, the "," threw me.

No need to get defensive or for that matter offensive.

As per a previous ?: It appears from reading the rules that there will be no waivers, yet there's another part of the same clause which refers to waiting until the waiver period is over before acquiring FAs. This is a little confusing. If there's no waivers, there's no waiver period. Any clarification possible?

80s game only has waivers (no frenzy). So, this league will have waivers 'run' at 5 pm eastern someday soon. However, based on the league rules we are not supposed to put in any waivers claims so there will be no pickups via waivers. I'd assume at 5 pm eastern on the aforementioned day TSN will let us begin adding and dropping players. So, we should have a day or two to peruse everybody's roster and figure out what players are still out there that we want to pick up after waivers.

But then technically aren't we having a frenzy because

when free agent signings happen, it is first come first served?

Yes it will be a frenzy but at a decent hour of 5:00 PM EST the day the waiver period closes instead of who knows when after midnight the way a normal "frenzy" league does it. It's gonna be a little bit like the "fastest finger contest" from Regis' old Millionaire show!

There should be some sort of penalty to any team that "accidentally" uses waivers and therefore beats everybody else to the punch. If that happens I say that the team that got the player during waivers "accidentally" must drop that player and may not use him at all during this season. What does everyone else think? We should have something decided ahead of time just in case.

I'm not sure why we didn't just use the waiver process. I know it might not be as fair since the ranking won't be based on anything, but wouldn't it still be random. At least everyone would get to select a player in each round. If you can't make the frenzy you're SOL. I'm not suggesting we change the rules, just an observation.

I agree, there should be some form of penalty for trying to

get someone through waivers.

Personally, I don't know if I am the only one to do this but. I am usually busy around 5pm, so basically I filled my autodraft card with the players that were not 5 year guys (i.e. the ones I was guarnateed of getting). So this way, if I am not available at 5pm at least the players that could become FA I have already put on my autodraft card. Granted, I will be releasing most of these guys at a later date, but instead of being potentially behind the 8-ball (which I still technically am), I have at least guaranteed myself some free agent type players....And to think I didn't break any rules to do it.

For the record and so there is no confusion...I did not put any players on my autodraft list that could be taken during the AD by another team. That of course would be wrong.

FA's

Postby honestiago1 » Sun Nov 13, 2005 9:33 pm

We can all agree to start our FA period later than 5:00 p.m. EST. Since it's going to be a week until we actually start playing games, we could even have our FA period on a different day, say, Friday, 17 NOV, at 9:00 p.m. EST. This would be the evening leading into the weekend. It won't help anyone overseas, but it's a suggestion. We have our own frenzy start time.

Waivers -- I thought everyone knew how the waiver period worked. Sorry.

Again, I say we skip waiver period because everyone is getting their picks. Waivers in the 80s lets teams who didn't get the players they wanted beef up on what's left in the FA pool. Doesn't seem fair that anyone should get dibs over anyone else in that way.
