Slump Busters?

Auto league with a few folks from the boards. Last 10 teams have had only 2 playoff squads with both losing the finals. 6 of 7 current teams active have losing records.

Can this above squad turn it around? Yes. Will Clark is my DH.

Sykes,

great starting pitching, great power, great OBP ... this team looks VERY GOOD on paper ... I think you have a stadium problem !!

Will & Jack Clark, Sax, Lynn & Rice (the Boy Wonders from the '75 Sox Series team) would absolutely KILL the ball in Fenway Park.

I like it ... I've got the same slump going, Sykes. My last playoff team was when you and I were in the finals, and all but one of my 6 active teams have losing records. Too damn many theme leagues, I think !!

Good luck with the team, keep us posted on the boards.

i thought of you this weekend. I saw a bumper sticker that said, "New Jersey Girls Aren't Trash -- Trash Gets Picked Up Once in a While" ...

I think we can pencil you in

When I saw Mattingly, Clark and Clark I simply went, "Oh, hell and damnation. Who let him do that?" (then I remembered, "Well, I probably did -- I'm one of the culprits, at least). I didn't even try for Mattingly in the waivers because I was last. I managed to get Puckett (with what I thought would be a wasted pick), so my OF has some guns (Bar, Puckett and DwMurph). I noticed you snagged Soto after I dropped him (I just HAD to have Henke in my pen). Good move. He'll probably give up 45 dingers in the Murph, but he'll get you 15-20 (and maybe even a breakout year).

That's a good team, man. Hope I get lucky enough to meet you in the playoffs (though I'm gonna need the Forsch brothers to do some fancy steppin'!). I'm gonna have to somehow pull another less than 600 runs allowed outa the hat (though I'm not sure if I can do it, given the caliber of my RH SP's).

Good team ya got there. 100 wins?

Duh-da, Duh-da, Duh-da Duh-da, da da da!

That's quite a draft and waiver job. Folks in that league better stay out of the water because this team is dangerous.

Many times people write LOL to express themselves when on the internet. Do they really laugh out loud all the time? This one really did make me laugh out loud. Glad I wasn't drinking pop when I read it.

A wise comedian on the infamous "Bob and Tom" radio show (out of Indianapolis) once described the difference between women around the country and the type of lingerie they wear.

For instance, a man from California will have a pretty good idea that he's going to get lucky that night when he comes home to a candlelight dinner and his wife decked out in hot red lingerie.

A man from Indiana will have a pretty good idea that he's going to get lucky when he comes home to find his Swanson's Hungry Man TV dinner already waiting for him and his wife all decked out in flannel pajamas and white tube sox.

So true.

BJ,

By "pop" you mean soda, and not someone's father, right? Another one of those midwest things??

In Maine, a man knows he's gonna get lucky if he comes home and his wife has already taken her tooth out !!

Tube Socks ????

I hesitate to suggest it, Sykes...

...but how about trying a new stadium? Any venue other than the Murph might encourage a fresh approach and/or break the string of bad luck that has been dogging you.

Just considering the theme leagues we've been in, when you trade a top stud draft choice to get your stadium pick, that might eventually hurt your team on the field. I realize lightning may strike me dead for suggesting it, but doesn't seem like a new stadium might be worth a try. :?: :?:

Anyway, I've found that playing around with various stadiums forces me to extend my ideas of a team concept and develop my team-building skills.

Steal Third -- have you LOOKED at my last two Benjamin Teams? I would have PAID you to send the mob after those two disasters. 58 and 66 wins respectively ... PLEASE send the mob after them !!

As far as revoking my rights to listen to Bruce, Blue Eyes and JonBovi -- I'm good with that ... the great news is, there aren't any country singers from Jersey.

I thought Tommy Heinsohn was the best thing to come out of Jersey !!
