First 2007 Team - Comments?

Here is my first 2007 team. I'm pretty new to this, so I'm sure I've overlooked some basics here.

I'm not sure I trust Harang and Myers, and have thought about seeking some non SP* to fill out the bottom of the rotation.

I'm not at all comfortable with the assortment of OFs. I like Kearns but wish he had a little more pop for the $. Taveras gives me decent speed and defense, but not sure I'm sold on him as an everyday player. I'd feel better if Dellucci complemented Gross (as Gross is so one-sided). Dellucci doesn't seem to fit, but he appears to be a great value for the $.

My quality RPs are all pretty one-sided (good vs R).

Thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

I don't like Myers card much . Harang should be ok , thats probably all . You cheap guys in the pen aren't impressive either . Since your new to this I'll let you in on some things .

Injuries go like this : 680+ rest of game - not at all
600-679 - 3 or 4 games
under 599 - 15 game possible

based on plate appearances ( ab + bb) so your going to need some backups in the IF.

You better hope your pen is used right or you'll get eaten up with the wrong side coming in to pitch .

not that I'm saying your team is bad, just there are a lot of good Fa's left. Taking Ledzema to a .50 sp only and Denforia to a .50, you could replace your entire starting 9 with:

C: Redmond
1b: LaRoche
2b: Grudz
SS: Furcal
3b: Rolen
LF: Scott
CF: E Chavez
RF: Escobar
DH: Diaz

but then again, many of the listed above are some of my favs in the set so im biased.

As your team is now you have 1 LH hitter, and your team overall is better vs LH pitchers. Unless there is a lot of LH sp's in your division, on average you face 30% L pitching, so your team needs to bend more towards hitting RH pitching better.

geekor,

I really liked this team you just sugested. I learned a lot from it. However, Escobar has an inj rating of 6. Would you use him anyway?

yes, and yes again, and then on sunday.

his hitting ability is worth 9+ million, you're basically getting him at over half price. If he gets 450+ ab's, you are more than getting you money's worth. Of course you must have a backup for him, well 2 probably, but to me is is worth every $. the question is, will he be around to help in the playoffs, no one knows that answer yet though.

US Cell in 144 games (106 played)
Escobar, Alex I R CF 3(-1)e8 442 83 147 14 12 [b:3815cc7160]29 106[/b:3815cc7160] 35 98 2 0 7 .333 .379 .615

In Shea (53/60 games played)
Escobar, Alex R CF 3(-1)e8 215 46 87 11 2 [b:3815cc7160]11 43[/b:3815cc7160] 24 50 0 0 3 .405 .464 .628

I actually usually try to draft him, just don't ge him often.
