LEAGUE IS FULL _ FRENZY TONIGHT!!!

Postby rschwartz51 » Tue Nov 29, 2005 10:19 pm

League is Full

$50 goes to each of the finalists. If either Bobby or myself win we don't pay.

Better be sure I'm at my computer at frenzy time.

A rather uneventful frenzy, as most $100M are...got my outfield of Yaz, Duke, Simmons....lost all 4 of my SP, but 2 of the auto replacements were acceptable in Hubbell and Garcia. Got my pen. Only problem was 2nd base, where I'm stuck with Gordon. Oh well, it could be worse. We'll see how Buck Freeman handles DH duties.

Where did everyone go to

Postby rschwartz51 » Wed Nov 30, 2005 2:14 am

or

it's lonely in Los Angeles

Here's the likely lineup

3B - P. Rose
LF - C. Jones
CF - M. Mantle
1B - L. Gehrig
DH - D. Ennis
RF - J. Canseco
C - S. Lollar
2B - L. Whitaker
SS - R. Chapman

SP H. Camnitz, P. Deringer, A. Demaree, M. Lolich

RP - G. Garber, S. Baumgartner, etc.

Might need to improve SP at expense of offense.

Key is if Gehrig can have a solid year. I've used him a couple of times with very bad results. Funny thing is he's the the playerthat attracted me most to old timers SOM style. 1927 card used to just kill teams.

In ATG ball the over under is set at .300 30 HRS.

Looks good, I decided ti try a OT-style small-ball club with a bit of a bite despite being in the hitter-friendly Briggs:
Most liekly lineup:

1b Judge -need him to have his OBP of.380
2b E.Collins -need ~.290 with an OBP of 360
DH J. Clark- need abig year 35 HR, ~.280
CF W. Mays - need ~50 HR's and 120 RBI'S
RF C. Furillo -need him not to keep disappointing me
LF J. Jackson need ~.310 and 85 RBI's
C Sanguillen need ~.280
3B- Gardner need ~.260 and 75 RBI's
SS- O. Smith -ned him to catch the ball, ~.270 and steal 30 bases

SP- Maddox, Willett, Leifield, Grove - solid but not spectacular shouldnt give up a lot of HR's

Bullpen - D. Smith, Henke, McKain, Hall, Riddle - okay but could be susceptible to some late inning HR blasts.

Prediction -win 84-87 games and be the best team NOT to make the playoffs.

Just going back and reviewing a few predictions from this thread:

Actual - 84 wins, in the playoffs - errormagnate/Steve Ames

I guess this qualifies as solid:
Gehrig, L. L 1B 2e16 633 156 46 75 200 96 0 16 .343 .809 .426 3R 14.65M

Yeah, it's a shame to be stuck with a 2b who sticks you with these numbers:
Gordon, J. R 2B 1e28 588 94 26 42 116 83 8 20 .274 .549 .362 E 6.16M
And Buck did a decent job manning the DH post:
Freeman, B. L RF 4(+1)e16 634 75 38 24 88 33 1 0 .268 .483 .303 E 2.46M

Congrats to Bob, Bobby, and SteveAmes for great seasons.

actually I am quite impressed with my prediction on this one as I reviewed my team and most hit exactly what I had hoped except for a bad season from Judge a great season from Furillo (finally) and a monster year from Mays.
This was a fun league.
