Exactly what I was thinking. (I do know which player Tom is referring to, and don't worry, he's not in my plans.) I may be able to take him in round 2 or 3.

Drafting first isn't always a great thing -- my next pick is the 24th overall, and that's a long wait.

And Al just snagged my favorite player, Seaver. (Anyone who knows I come from the NYC area and despise the Yankees would probably have known this.)

Thought about him at the beginning, but he would have been a reach for the first pick.

I feel really lost in the 1969 game... I know all the players, but have no idea where the value is...

Same here. You guys snagged all the guys I wanted (Rico, Aaron, Robby and Killer). Had no idea where to go next. Ultimately, I "settled" on Bando, who probably is a little overpriced because of his D at 3B....something I never really valued much. Being 11th sucks :? :(

Hey money, what part of NYC are you from? I lived in Queens and Manhattan for years and now live in LI.

Lived mostly in Brooklyn from 1988-2000 (one year in Manhattan, two years in North Carolina), now in Chicago suburbs. Grew up in New Jersey, part of the time in the same town as Tom (that's how we met).

Ah....Brooklyn in the house :D My in-laws live out there. Interesting borrough

And yes, I think that drafting Seaver #1 would've been a reach. Good move taking Rico. He's gotta be the consensus #1 in the 1969 game.

I am somewhat lost in 69 also. I was taking Rico at #2, but he does seem like an obvious pick in this game. Figured I'd go with Aaron at #2 as one of the few non-firstbaseman sluggers who can play some "D". Didn't want to get tied to a 1B or a DH in round 1.

I haven't been able to find my 1970 preview book yet, so don't think I'm at a huge advantage. It isn't especially well written, anyway -- it's not like the analysis in the book was like that of Bill James or [i:e4af23e5fe]Baseball Prospectus[/i:e4af23e5fe].

Since not a lot of us were following baseball closely in 1969, some of our information comes from the books we've read -- which means, in my case, historicals like [i:e4af23e5fe]Ball Four[/i:e4af23e5fe] and books on the Mets (and, in my case, one or two on the Cubs). This heavily weights choices in a bad way -- I don't particularly want my team populated with guys like Steve Hovley, Rich Nye, and Rod Gaspar.
