Your defense is going to kill you. You can't play a 3 in CF unless the hitter is an absolute monster, which neither Figgins or Francoeur are. A 3 at 2nd, a 4 in both LF and RF, and a 2 with a high error rating at SS (though I don't mind Guillen as my SS) are going to have your pitchers walking off the team for lack of support. You need to replace your CF, 2nd baseman, at least one of your corner OF's with a better defender (Dye or Soriano to DH). I'd also keep just one of your closers, and get a better set-up. I understand your thinking with a hard slanted closer by comittee, Hal might not work it consistantly the way you desire. You're also better off getting that 4th *SP as opposed to the 3 plus 2 scenario you have at present.

You have a good set of base players. Uggla, Bonds (one of your present corners to DH), Francouer/Figgins platoon are replacable.

LaRoche isn't a bad option at all for your park. He's the least of your worriess. You just can't have a 3 patrolling CF, with 2 4's patrolling the corners.

trade offer

Postby farrock1 » Fri Oct 05, 2007 4:11 pm

just offered a trade: Taveras for Figgins, that would give me a 2 (-4) CF & dropping Laroache for Helton would give me enough for Buchholz out for Moyer in (*) pitcher

I will keep Francuer for RF (2) and let Dye DH when Bonds eventually gets hurt.. otherwise I can have francuer sub for Def. in later innings

If it were me, I'd grab Bedard ASAP for Kazmir, then rearrange my bullpen with Street at closer and grab someone like Wuertz or Lugo as a cheap setup. grab someone cheap like Adkins for mopup 9or borowski ok for that same role).

Then use that extra $$ and get German (yea a 3 at 2b buuut) for leadoff. I'd then decide between Bonds and Soriano, keep 1 only at DH, downgrade Ozuna, Francour, Figgins to .50 and get a CF with a def range of 2 and a LF with a def range of at least 3.

Keep LaRoche, he will hit a lot in your park, and Dye is a stud.
