I will be away on vacation from 12/21 to 12/28 so if this does not fill by tomorrow I will have to excuse myself until after the 28th.

With the new year almost upon us, I figured I'd top this in case there is anyone returning from vacation who might be interested in the league.

What was the final decision? Any 2 teams? 1 AL and 1 NL? 2Al or 2NL?

I think the final determination was 1AL 1NL per squad.

This is my third team in this theme (Back to '80s and 2005 before). Will non-franchise FAs be available by frenzy, waivers or supplemental draft? If this is $100 mil league, with $80 mil cap, when may the remaining $20 mil be used?

The Final $20 Mil

My undertsaning is that this would give managers the flexibility to move players back and forth between major and minor leagues.

Bob posted this a few weeks ago:

Option #1 - 1 team from the AL & 1 team from the NL
- No DH
- $100M budget
- $80 M cap
- 20 franchise players minimum
- 4 non franchise players maximum with free trades and/or free agents

I guess we have to decide if we want the non-drafted players from each franchise to be freely available, or to have them as "reserved" by the manager who owns the two franchises, and then have their rights freely traded post-draft. I think the latter concept is a little more interesting.

What seems to be the prevailing sentiment among the two-team franchise leagues in which I've been involved is that the rights to the players from the two teams selected are retained by that franchise (hence, giving it a "minor league" in which to draw) and those free agents from teams not selected (non-franchise players) are available to all in some form: either frenzy, waivers or supplemental draft ... which is why I asked the question as to which means would be deployed. In such an instance, franchise players could only be acquired by another franchise by trade.

In a 2005 league I administered using this theme, these were the rules:

I'm not necessarily saying that this is the best way, but it may provide a handy reference for how some of the theme's common issues were resolved.

In the 1969 game there are only 24 teams so every team will be taken in a two team theme league. There will not be any non-selected teams.

Doh! I've got so many leagues going, between this and NetPlay, that I can't keep track. I reckon that answers a ton of questions. Since that's the case, I suggest all transactions be by trade, along with minor league call-ups. Allowing FA waiver claims would ruin the major/minor system.
