I will comment on Dave Kingman.
I think you are dead on that he is not a budget buster. But his salary seems in-line with similar players.
The value system appears to give all low OBP, no D players low salary numbers. After all, you only get one DH, which do you choose?
If you like Dave Kingman at 0.66, how about George Foster at 0.68? Both hit HRs 1:18 at bats, Foster has slight better average, so he is less of a lost cause when he doesn't put one out of the park.
Other players with no-D, horrible BA and high HR rates:
Graig Nettles 0.62 (actually not a total loss at 3b, but a 3R and not a very good option vrs lefties)
Franklin Stubbs at 1.00
Gorman Thomas at 0.58 (0.187 BA, 0.316 OBP, he walks as often as he hits).
I think if you like the low BA, high HR players, Kingman is not neccesarily the best value in that group. But again, if you want one of those players on your roster, the group offers excellent value (at the very least, a budget friendly salary). I might go with Graig Nettles, but pair him with a platoon mate. Just a free opinion, take its value for whats it cost
