Question about waivers after the draft.

Our historical single season sets

Question about waivers after the draft.

Perhaps I'm a little confused, but....if after your draft is over but before your waiver draft takes place, if you put a player back into the pool, are you not allowed to take part in the pre-season waiver action or does this free up some money so that you can have it for waiver pickups? Thank you.

The minimum roster size is 24 players, but we are required to autodraft 25, so often people will cut that "extra" player (usually an expensive guy that was not desired) to free up extra cap space for the waiver draft.
Of course, in single seasons like 1986, it is also often that managers will load the rosters up via waivers and the post-waivers free agency closer to the maximum roster size of 28.

Well, why is it then that when I try to release a player, it tells me that if I do, I can't take part in the waiver draft?

I finally got it. Thanks. I'm not the smartest guy on the board.
