Overpriced 86ers

Eric Davis seems over priced at 9.93, I have him on several teams here's what he's done for me so far:

What's amazing is you'd think he'd be more valuable as the cap got smaller, instead, he's worse!

Eric davis is an odd guy because besides being the fastest guy with regards to steals, he also is one of the top power hitters. If you extrapolate his HR's to 600 AB's, he's right there with the top guys. So to get full power value, you need a power park, but then you are paying for your four or five hitter to steal a zillion bases, which isn't really needed. Add in his high injury, and you end up overpaying for him one way or the other.

I will agree, E.D. is not the monster he always was in the mid-80's, or that this '86 card suggests, but ill take his numbers anyday over what I;m getting from PHIL BRADLEY. far and away the biggest enigma in this set. if we were rolling dice head to head, i'd have melted ten sets of dice by now.

...but I have Raines at just above .200 with no OBP. He's a 1e7 and already has 5 errors. How many games have I played? 30. Man, I was off to a hot start with my SPs (Morris, Knepper, Sutton, Ryan, Langston) and speed (Raines, Webster, Herr) and OPB (Yount, A. Davis, Phillips). But, I've lost a lot of close games and Raines is killing me.

I really think ALL the SS's overpriced...You hate to pay Smith 7M+ and then have to bat him 8th or 9th against RHP...But at least his OBP, speed and ability to move a fast runner in front of him help for a 1 Range SS.

His OBP is good enuf to lead off vs LHP...So I will keep taking him over the other 1's...Trammell isn't so bad offensively for a 2 Range and Ripkin is fine if you have a lot of LH Righty killers on your team...

The 86 game is definitely a mix and match challenge...Which is actually what makes it more interesting...I thought I had a really crappy team by my own standards, but they have fared pretty well so far at Tiger Stadium.

I have to disagree regarding Eric Davis and Tim Raines, but a lot has to do with the supporting offensive players and the ballpark.

I have them both on a Fenway team, after 54 games:
TR - 54 games - .385/.458/.582, 50 runs, 18 2b, 6 3b, 39 sb
ED - 45 games - .342/.441/.713, 37 runs, 44 rbi, 17 hr, 31 sb

On a Busch team, after 33 games:
TR - 30 games - .275/.338/.333, 17 runs, 12 sb
But team as a whole is not playing well to drive him in, etc.
Same league, opponent's team at Riverfront:
ED - 32 games - .258/.407/.525, 31 runs, 21 rbi, 8 hr, 17 sb

In another league, on an opponent's Fenway team:
TR - 18 games - .275/.355/.400, 15 runs, 7 xbh, 8 rbi, 7 sb

I have seen some poor starts too, but I am starting up another team based on Raines and Steve Sax anchoring the top of the order for a small ball team. I think Raines [b:67e860a567]could[/b:67e860a567] be the best leadoff hitter in 1986, but more stats are needed to cement that fact.

Leading the league in steals, top 10 in R, 2b, BA, OBP. Obviously, no complaints here.

E Davis, on another team is only hitting .250, but leads the league in both HRs and RBIs and is top 10 in slugging.

To me all the higher priced guys that do nothing but walk are overpriced. Guys like:
