anybody liking ron hassey?

I'm trying to decide between Lance Parrish or a Hassey/Laudner platoon. Playing in Jack Murphy; plenty of power already (Joe Carter, McReynolds, Brooks, Baines, O'Brien, Gaetti), and wondering if I could use a little boost with obp. Anybody try Hassey batting third against righthanders?

I hate to spend 6 million for a high-injury catcher, but it's a free game, so why the heck not.

I've got Hassey on one of my teams. Through 9 games, he's hitting .400 (10-25) with 1HR and 6RBI, w/ 3BB and 0K.

If you use Hassey you have to platoon him. I looked at my 4 teams that have played 72 games and below are the average stats by these two catchers. The Hassey numbers are from the teams that are platooning him. He is hitting .219 on one team that is playing him full-time.

Hassey - .323 BA, .388 OBP, .446 SLG

Parrish - .232 BA, .320 OBP, .475 SLG, 15 HR

To me if you need more power go with Parrish and if you want a higher BA go with Hassey. Parrish also slows down opposing base runners.

I wouldn't use him for nothing but it's a personal thing . In the 86 season I took my son to a game and we were sitting just above the bullpen and Hassey was out there . My son , who was 3 yrs old , asked him before the game to sign his glove and he was a total jerk , thus , hate him and won't use him ! :D
