who are the best value SPs in '1986' under $2M? For that matter, who are the best hitters under $2M also?

In no particular order...Dixon, Cowley, John, Langston seem to be good values under 2M.

For hitters under 2M it depends on if you are looking for a full-time starter or platoon guy. There are many good one sided players under 2M but very few good choices to play full-time. If you want to go cheap at SS I like the Templeton & Guillen options. Throw in Thon and Uribe and you have several 2 fielding SS options on the cheap. For whatever reason Don Slaught has hit better than his card in every league I've noticed him in. Steve Lake, with his good arm could be a good low priced C option too. Lonnie Smith seems like a good full-time DH.

As for platoon mates or PH types there are many. Versus LHP look at Lawless, Espinoza, Wohlford, Hatcher & Tracy Jones among others. Versus RHP they cost more but Kutcher, Easler & Bip Roberts. There are others especially in the 1-2M range.

There are many RPs under $2m that I would take, mostly for middle relief, but there are some closers to be had, particularly if the league and parks line up right.
As for SP, I have good experience so far with a few, including Ted Power, Tommy John, and Charlie Leibrandt.

As for hitters, definitely in the platoon dept. I agree with the SS assessment. With guys like Thon, Templeton, Reynolds, and Guillen, you can make do going cheap.

And at least with Boone and Pendleton, you can have some decent sub-$1 D for depth or if you REALLY want to cheap out at one position to funnel more dough elsewhere.

Wohlford and Melvin are great sub $1M platoon options vs lefties.

Steve Garvey destroys LHP in every league I am in! And he is just over 1 million bucks, and he is a 2 e8!
