New team, any tips?

Hey guys, this team is already post waivers. I think it looks okay, although it is admittedly lacking depth.

1. Do you have any ideas about what I can do to stretch my dollars and pick up a platoon-mate for Diaz or possibly a rightfielder with some pop (Rajai Davis is penciled in to start).

2. I like my rotation, and I like Wagner closing. Is Moylan too much?

3. Are the "4"'s in the field (Cabrera at 3B, Martinez at C, Diaz in LF) too many? I like the bats they all bring to the table, but I don't know if they're going to cost me more runs than they produce.

Overall, I think it's looking good. Waivers just passed about half an hour ago, though, so there's plenty of time to make adjustments. Thanks in advance.

You've spent waaaay too much on your rotation.

Miggy and H Ramirez never hit their cards and need to be dropped.

and just because I'm in your division and want those players means absolutely nothing!!!

:P :P

Well, Geekor, it looks like we were trying to put together the same team from the beginning. We've both got decent pitchers' parks, four man rotations, and a fair amount of money tied up in two stud relievers. You've also got Russell Martin and Jerry Owens, who I had on my draft card, and you were able to pick up James Loney and Norris Hopper, both of whom I'd hoped to pick up through waivers.

If I had any advice to give you, I would say to drop about half of the guys you've got who hit over .320 last year. It scares me.

yea... too bad one sneeze and half my lineup is gone....

I don't want to lower my bullpen, as I've seen really good things from Bell. But many I'm using cheap backups for this many injury risks, hope it doesn't kill me!!

Actually your team looks pretty good, best pitching staff in the division.

I would worry that you look like your offense is leaning to the left too much though. I don't see much way to fix IMO with what's out there.

Well, perhaps find a way to upgrade to Lewis in the OF, at 45 OB vs R could be a decent cheap leadoff.

Or at least upgrade R Davis to Schierholtz, much better for change more.

My 2 shiny pennies...

1. I'm not crazy about your pen. Too many LH's. I'd keep Wags, and go for a good RP to set him up. Then grab a couple of hard RH's/LH's for quick hooks.

2. Your SP looks fine. Save a few sheckels by dumping Pineiro for a $50 guy.

3. While Davis, Schierholtz and Lewis have [i:4315ac582b]decent[/i:4315ac582b] cards, I wouldn't want all 3 on my team.

While I like most of your players and the general team construction, many of the hitters don't make sense in your ballpark. Your ballpark will probably eliminate about 50% of your home runs at home. I have no idea of who is available, but if there are hitters where you could upgrade .050 in OBP while downgrading .050 in SLG I would pick those up. In you ballpark, the 2 biggest goals should be to lead the league in pitching (which you might) and offensively lead the league in OBP (which should put you in the top half or better in runs no matter how many HRs you hit).

These are my thoughts on apretty good team

1) never been a fan of Aaron Harang "em high"...I would try and grab a cheaper SP* Wainwright to Marquis somebody who can go every 4th and save you 2-4 million.

2) A.Gonz needs a US Cell(or the like) to achieve greatness...pool monies and go for D.Lee or even Helton(who will rock your park)..or maybe Guillen or Kotchman

3) Unless you face 50%+ LHP you are over paying for Hill at 2B. With a 1 at SS and CF you could get away with a 3 with low e's.....Loretta has been a great value in leagues I've seen him in.

4) have to agree with Viz...the pen is suspect at best and your corner OF'ers are soft....but you might have to live with them.

ahhh.. too bad berce don't work for the new games

Well on a couple of points (since I'm in this league), as far as pitching goes Buehrle and Zito were [u:7d98f2aedf]just dropped[/u:7d98f2aedf], but other than those bad lefties the next is Silvia, Glavine, Arroyo, you get the picture, nada.

the majority of the league are pitcher parks at least, with 2 Camdens and 1 PNC among the Fenways, RFK, ATT etc.

The thing with Hill is why I mentioned leaning too LH, though 1 team in the division has 3/5 LH SP, I have none and the other team has but 1. But you have to go to a 3 basically at 2b to get anything cheap who is decent.

I'm running Hopper and Schumaker at my corners... better yes but not by a ton. Here are the Of's left (sorted by BA):

you're not seeing anyone that really stands out in a pitchers park environment are you? Especially who hit Righties better.

That's why I thought his team looked decent, maybe not tops in the world, but decent. Hey I wish I could better my OF as well, but no one to upgrade to!
