Best Season Performance by a $0.50 Player

Postby kenhutchings » Fri May 16, 2008 10:23 am

It's been too quiet here on the 1969 message board, so I thought this might elicit some discussion.

With links included, what are some of the best performances that you've gotten from $500,000 salaried players in the 1969 game??

P.S. I'll post mine later.

Ken

If you limit it to normal leagues (no scab leagues), 50¢ only (no Roseboro, Versallies, etc who are just above 50¢) and significant playing time (200+ ABs or 40+ IP) these are the best that I have had.

Herrera and Dave May did pretty well on this team

Freddie Patek

Hiller who is about the only true 50¢ pitcher to get significant playing time for one of my teams.

If somebody used Lee Maye full time he could rock.....for a 50¢ player that is.

Here's mine.

Bobby Bolin (5 wins, 8 saves)

I'm currently managing my fourth '69 team, and Bolin has been on all four of them.

I don't know what happened to my earlier link, but it went to the wrong team. Grant 11-2, 148 innings, 4.74 ERA

Ray Sadecki

Postby kenhutchings » Wed May 21, 2008 11:36 pm

Part of the reason I posed the original question was that I'm currently managing a combined team of S.F. Giants and Boston Red Sox, and Ray Sadecki, who is a $0.50 pitcher, is on my team.

Sadecki just pitched a shutout for my team, and has been doing phenomenal through the first third of the season. (I know, I'm inviting the wrath of HAL by even mentioning it).

Ken,

Could you post the results of that 2-team theme league periodically. I was following the draft here on the boards and saw Giants and Red Sox fall to you at 12-13 and thought that was going to be a fantastic combo.
