First Dunn team - am I missing anything?

First Dunn team - am I missing anything?

Postby Palanion » Mon Jan 30, 2006 4:19 pm

I think it's pretty good, I am feeling confident, but then I always do and lose lots.

Since I have been getting sick of Y56 teams, and played/ing a couple Forbes teams, this looks like a happy medium....
I have solid OBP, good LH power.
Good SP, good pen
But am I missing something?

C - Grote/Zimmerman
1B - Powell
2B - Morgan
3B - Rolfe
SS - Crosetti
LF - Al Smith (but should upgrade in waivers)
CF - Speaker
RF - Clemente

SP - Clemens, Carlton, T. John, Bell (hoping to change in waivers), Tudor
RP - Newhouser, Staley, Garman, Bennett, Aguilera

Thanks

Good start.
Some thoughts:
Not enough protection against lefties, Roberto is excellent but is one guy.
Newhouser gives up BP HRs against lefties, not a good fit for Dunn.
Staley is excellent.
Crosetti is only if you have no other choice, he will will diddley squat in Dunn--Fernandez/Aparicio would be a step up.

Crosetti is terrible at Baker so at Dunn he'll be even worse. There's got to be a better option .

Yeah... I would love to upgrade SS certainly. I missed out on Peck in the live draft....
Thanks for the heads up on Newhouser... hadn't noticed the BP HRs

Also I don't like either of your bottom 2 sp's. Both have BP Hr's vs lefties. I prefer Lolich, Gura or Kaat (my personal fav). Or you could do what I do and platoon M Grant and Keough, because, at least in my leagues, there was always at least 4 teams who had 6+ RH hitters.

Crosetti is a perfect no bat all glove guy. Obviously if you could improve there do so. LF needs improving as well. Fryman is the #1 choice of RP in Dunn, but other can do nicely as well.

A good foundation, but yes it can be improved on.

Well, I dumped Bell for McNally and Smith for Ennis.

How many LH relievers do I need? I am thinking that Bennett may be enough, if I downgrade Newhouser to a RH noHR reliever, and then I can upgrade to T. Fernandez at SS....

I've seen Cleon Jones have monster seasons in Dunn. Valentine too. I like them both over Ennis and Clemente.

Morgan, Crosetti, and Rolfe could become Whitaker, Pesky, and Boggs.

If you do nothing else, get Cleon in LF.

It's too bad you missed out on Hernandez at 1B...he seems to be built for Dunn.

Ok... GREAT call on Cleon. When I read the waiver trans., I missed that he was dumped.
He gives me that extra bat vs. LHP that I needed, plus great OBP....
I switched out Newhouser for Beggs to free up the cash to get Cleon.

I don't see a way to improve SS, unless I can move up to Bush or someone else. I would be happy if he hits .220 and gets under card on E.
I am thinking of improving upon McNally... just not sure there's any way to do so...
