QUICKSILVER 6 V CHAT

Postby Simon31 » Thu Jul 24, 2008 3:41 am

Cubs48, are you sure? I checked the archives on my lotto website but the numbers only go up to July 9th. I'll research it more tonight when I get home to verify and then make the switch. I think 6 minutes for this round is a good idea considering all the new cards to go through. It won't set us back that much so consider the rule changed for this round! I still think we can get 6 picks in though. What does everyone else want to do on this matter? 5 or 6 picks?

I think we should decide during the draft. 5 rounds at 6 minutes is the same as 6 rounds at 5 minutes if we max the limit. In the past, we've breezed through, but we knew the cards like the back of our hands. This won't be like that. I can see a lot of picks maxing out.

I'd prefer to have a little more time to study the cards ... but that would mean waiting 2 weeks since the cards didn't come out until yesterday evening ... and Aug. 1 won't work for us ...

The premium guys are easy ... so to speak ... it's filling out those spots 15 through 22 that can make the difference in a champion v. a .500 team.

I'm glad they got 4.0 out ... but with ALL THE TIME put in on it, they could have released on a weekend or a Monday ... but no ... COB on a Wednesday. Couldn't purchase a 4.0 team at 6 PM ET Wed., but I assume you can now, right?

Lastly ... Very suspicious bunching at the top of the lottery number sweepstakes ... when I heard DC's number ... well, I whooped it up ... I thought I'd schnerked the #1 for the second straight time!! Hah ... instead, #4 .... well, I won't have to wait so long for my second pick, I guess.

I took tomorrow off in advance since ATG IV was due out this week. I just got up from a nap and was a little out of it. I looked at the time and thought I was late for the draft, since it felt like a Friday night. Whew.

I have first pick huh. How cool is that!!!!!!!!! Well it's a lot better than 10th pick. No County Stadium this time!!

[quote:d0ba8887e9]well, since petro's goin first, i guess i wont be getting frankie frisch...[/quote:d0ba8887e9]

Nice try. He was a good 10th pick in III but not with these new cards. I'll probably take a CF, the question is which of the five choices...

Looking at the $ tags on the new players, I'd say the price of poker just went up fellas! I will say this, with so many good choices, I'm not sure if it matters who drafts where! Everbody has an opportunity to put together an awesome hitting lineup. I'm a little reluctant to go with 5 picks but I'm still open to feedback on this. If I were drafting 12th though, I'd sure want my two picks on the corner. It might be a good idea, and a time saver, to fill in all, or as many of your nickel players as you can in advance. Odds are none will go in the top 6 (or 5.) Those players may end up taking longer than your starting lineups. IMHO.

Plus Petro's last point is well taken ...

... where he's pointing out that an odd number of Rounds gives him an unfair advantage which he is certainly loath to take! Only an even number of rounds will even out the pecking order ...

So ... we should only go 4 rounds ... OR do our normal 6 rounds and stay at 5 minutes because of this alleged bounty of talent ... that's also missing many of the players many of us count on ... or so I'm picking up from some of the comments so far ... it's sounding almost like the selectors ... despite all the great feedback from those who provided it ... these final selectors don't really play this game on regular basis ... aww ... I'm just rumbin', stumblin' and bumblin' with spekilations now ...

LET'S ALL GET READY TO BE HAD TOMORROW NIGHT ... and hope we'll actually see all 12 managers (11 if Petro falls asleep again) ... 8-)
