I bat him second all the time. Sure, he hits into some dp's, but his slugging, obp, base running, etc far outway the dp's imo.

So far, in fenway, thur 93 games, he has hit into 18 dp's. Also batting 328, 556 slugging, 367 obp, has 15 hrs, 55 rbi's, and has scored 85 runs.

On a recently completed Fenway team, he hit into 27 dp's (played all 162 games), batted 365, 671 slugging, 412 obp, hit 43 hrs, had 127 rbi's and scored 154 runs

He can hit anywhere, never gets injured, and plays great D. One of the real gems in atg2 IMHO....

You can cut down on his DP's by batting him third and having your #2 man do more bunting. I like Yount in the 3 hole.

Hell, if you're that worried about it - lead him off!!! I've used that strategy with him & Ripken and it eliminated a potenial 162 DP situations right off the bat.

Or else I bat him 6th, figuring if he hits into a DP, it won't hurt as much because the weaker 7 and 8 hitters are coming up.

I bat him fifth behind my best HR hitter. That usually helps with the dp's.
