McCosky in CF?

9 RH SPs in my division and need to score runs in the hitters parks, so McCosey in CF helps, but will it off-set his +1 arm?

Do you starting pitchers check the CF arm often? If not, then you can probably get by with him.

Though, I always prefer a 1 in CF.

Other than McLain its is fine. Walter Johnson is available, but he is less effective at home than McLain.

I'm using Johnson for the first time, he actually Diamond Dopes out pretty darned good in a pitcher's park.

Worth a thought .......

P.S. - Is "Arm Testing Points" an actual Strat term?? :wink:

I have used Walter a couple of times, he has done pretty good:

16-10, 3.42 ERA at Yankee 39 in Alphabet theme league thru 120 games

21-7, 2.42 ERA at Sportsman 46

Never used McLain, hope he holds up on the road ..... :)

Its all numbers to me, but most of the "Arm Testing Points" are on the hitters cards. And yes, I declare it an official strat term!

McLain rocks as long as you're not in a hitters park (which you aren't). I think you'll be quite pleased with his numbers.

Speaking of arms--and this is a newbie question--does anybody use Earle Combs? His offense is tempting in the leadoff spot and the defensive range is good but the errors and (especially) the +3 arm are daunting. Still, his cost is probably discounted for that, given the mucho hitting.

Would he be worth trying if your pitchers had few "Arm Testing Points"?

Also, was his arm REALLY that bad? +3 is pretty darn awful. Of course, with Ruth and Meusel the '27 Yankees had some compensation in LF and RF.
