Seems to take FOREVER to fill a league anymore... I don't remember this last year.

In my opinion people are getting burned out with the 200X seasons a little quicker than in past years. It's probably because we've just played season after season for years now. (a lot of us anyway)

Also, with the advent of additional games people are playing those more, too.

Lastly, and I can attest to this, it's Football season and people's attention is directed to that sport, at least until it gets a few weeks into the season.

I'm guessing, but I would predict a new surge around World Series time, followed by another quiet spell (almost non-existent really) when the Holidays approach.

On a personal note I have 1 more theme league planned, probably early October. It's theme will have to do with the National Election. :)

I agree with Jeep's assessment with the football season. I know I didn't want to start any new SOM teams while I was prepping for my fantasy football drafts. Now that the drafts are over and the season's started, it's back to more SOM teams! :D

I think part of the reason could be because leagues aren't auto-generated anymore. Leagues are user created now so this provides more options for one to choose from. This also creates more chances for one to join the wrong league by mistake like what happened to me:

I joined an advanced league which I thought had the same settings of the former auto leagues but after I joined I found out it was using FA Drop Penalty: 5/10/20%. when you view the league you need to click on the (Show Advanced Rules) link in order to reveal the additional settings for the league.
