Fenway

That might be a good idea. He has a good average, and he can steal. See if Byrnes is available, if not Damon is good. See what you can do with the money you will save, I believe Damon is cheaper than Burrell. Get a good backup 3rd and 2nd basemen if you are going to stick with Rolen.

My 4 candidates to replace Burrell in LF at Fenway Park at or below cost:

Moises Alou (watch out for injuries and hole in glove)
Tike Redman (vs. R only)
Skip Schumaker
Kenny Lofton (vs. R only)

Redman and Schumaker will hit, but like the wise Aero Dave says, Redman only against righties, but he is worth it! If available grab one of them or Byrnes.

I would lose Howard. Your two best hitters don't optimally suit your park. I used Howard twice in Coors and he was mediocre. He will be worse(much?) in Fenway. Upgrade 3B and C definately and 2B probably. Burrell also should probaby go. You need guys that can hit, field and run and as RMilkter said, they all don't neccessarily have to be power hitters.

Would Russell Martin, Scott Hattenberg and Johnny Damon be an improvement over Kendell(obviously), Howard and Burrell? I also can pick up Hunter Pence and Damon Easley.

I love Hatteberg. Hatteberg and Steve Pearce are a great cheap 1B platoon. I disagree about Howard's pedigree, though. He's hit an inordinate amount of jacks in many leagues (I've seen as many as 75 in CBP), though he will whiff a whole lot (200+). If you drop the $$ there, spend it wisely somewhere else. If you drop Burrell (which I recommend), you still need at least one more masher, preferably right handed and 600+ PAs. Don't you dare drop or trade Ortiz :!: :!:

Easley's a good pickup, especially with Matsui's injury chances. Pence isn't too bad, but again, get someone else as a backup in RF to protect against injury. Martin's great if you're really going to focus on speed and defense. How do you see the lineup shaking out?

You asked about pitching originally, but you haven't stated who your pitchers are. :?:

P.S. As my buddy rmilter suggested, you really should focus on a better 3B. I don't like Rolen at all.

My sps are Sabathia, Velander, Maehe and Arroyo. The closer is Nathan.

The best available third basemen are Iwamura, Zimmerman, Blake and Miguel Cabrea. I shy away from Zimmerman because of the double plays.

I'd go with Casey Blake. He's versatile (plays 1B and RF well if you need it), has 600 PAs, and hits pretty much as much as he's supposed to at less than $3M. Sabathia, Verlander, and Meche are good picks, but Arroyo sucks. Find someone else. Nathan is solid. You may want to look into some setup men like Soriano and Zumaya, who fit well with your park as long as there aren't too many other bpHR stadiums in your division.

I can get Jeff Francis or Tom Glavine off waivers. They could replace Arroyo.
