The way I look at extreme slugger teams is purely numbers, you have to smash the stuffing out of all pitchers. Here are the numbers from the strat cards.
OBP vs RH 0.372
SLG vs RH 0.492
OPS vs RH 0.864
HR Rate vs RH 5.4
BPHR vs RH 48
OBP vs LH 0.378
SLG vs LH 0.556
OPS vs LH 0.934
HR Rate vs LH 7.0
BPHR vs LH 56
IMHO, you should have over .950 OPS both LH/RH side. A bit more/less OPS and OBP based upon other parks you play in and the types of SPs you will face, higher OBP if you will play in a lot of pitcher parks. A good target is also 5%+ HR rate and 50 BPHRs on each side. Achieving all these numbers is a big challenge, usually one makes compromises, but you need to be close.
Good defense helps your lousy staff and you need to be balanced vs all types of pitchers.
On this basis, you clearly have an issue vs RHs, you need some big LH boppers. Brett, Yaz, McCovey, Covington, and the big $$$ guys would be good.
Keep Mays, Honus, Rogers, Aaron and the Nettles/Wera platoon is a good value. I would definitely lose York, the Minch/Roenicke platoon is expendable, Bochy is useless, downgrade Smith for a cheapy, downgrade Leever and you might have a shot at a big gun..
Best of luck, sschu
