Good grief. Let's just do the simplest thing that works for the most, to get this thing off of the ground. If three across the board doesn't upset anyone, than go with that.

I say we go with democracy... the only proposal that passed so far says we get $.99m fill-ups for roster franchise shortages. If another passes, it passes.

Just be careful when cartooning any Cincy Reds, they appear to be widely considered untouchable. Their untouchableness was prophesied earlier in this thread. This situation could explode beyond "good griefs", completely off the Charlie Brown Scale of Offensiveness and there are Sparky RED machine zealots in country. We only need one!

not enough pitchers

Postby chunga1 » Wed Feb 08, 2006 8:17 pm

if I take Hernandez & Gooden that will give me 25 for the draft BUT only 9 pitchers..... Do I cut a scrub and take another P from the 86 team(under .99)?

you got it, smart.

On Saturdays, a list should appear in the mail that looks something like:

3PM ET
3:30
4
4:30
5
5:30
6
6:30
7
7:30
8
8:30

With drafters name by time. If someone else misses their time slot... you should still go at your time slot. If you miss your time slot, you may have missed out on a good pick, pick ASAP! Be careful, if you pick early, you will have to put them back which could ruin your season. It might be best to [b:ed17f7386c]try to draft right in the middle of your time slot. [/b:ed17f7386c]

I am confused . Foxx played for the Redsox and holds the team record for most homeruns in a season. I am not allowed to claim him?

Another elementary-school question: during the frenzy, are we allowed to pick free agents from any franchise or is it strictly under-$0.99 guys from other incarnations of our team? I have the 65 Dodgers, so I take it that during the auto-draft, I need to fill out my roster with any under-$0.99 Brooklyn or LA Dodger. Am I on the right page here?

Thanks.

Is SteveAmes also errormagnate? Should I send password both?

Postby divad » Wed Feb 08, 2006 10:26 pm

Q1: No on Fox. The team name has to be on the card. I'd like to take Hornsby and Pete Alexander for the Cardinals, but SOM included the wrong seasons for that.

Q2:Sounds like the right page there, pillpop. Personally, I'll be dropping some $.50 Cardinals for less than $.99m guys (who also have Stl. on their card).

[b:7010ad44be]NOW, CAN WE GET SOMEONE TO TAKE THIS CINCY FRANCHISE?[/b:7010ad44be]

I would be willing to take the Reds but would make one request regarding the first two weeks of the free agent draft, as follows:

1. Records do not determine the FA draft order for the 1st two weeks. Free agent draft is in reverse order in which the teams were picked - starting with the Reds (#1) on down to the Yankees (#12). This way, the teams in greatest need of help get first crack at the best Free Agents. No risk of people throwing games (not that anyone would) and it avoids a "freak week" of a weaker team getting off to a lucky start or one of the (arguably) stronger teams having an off week and getting 3 more superstars.
2. I think each team getting three picks each week is OK (and simpler).
3. Starting with week 3, draft as you had originally planned - from worst to first.

This process will also make the FA selections in the first two weeks easier (people will have more than a 1/2 hour to make their picks). In fact, you could do the FA selections throughout the week (but just not enter them until Saturday or Sunday.

If people are OK with this, count me in. If not, that fine too. Let me know. Thanks!
