There are those who would go both ways , but I would go Cooper . He's a power LH hitter , so is Ripper , Both are bulletproof , and will put up similar numers but , the big difference is D . Cooper's is superior to Rippers.

and Ripper's clutch sucks so you have to bat him 3rd, Cooper can hit anywhere....

Cooper can't hit anywhere, when i've had him.

Quirk would do better against lefties.

There are Ripper fans and Coop fans ... I for one am a Coop fan.

Generally speaking, he's gonna hit you 30-40 HR's, bat .300-.330 and drive in 100+ runs. Plus, he's not slow on the basepaths. And, he's a gold glover.

That being said, I've got him on a Yankee '56 squad right now and his average is an anemic .240 about 40% thru the season, but his HR's and RBI's are on track, so I'm dealing with it. (he's also facing a ton of LHP's and that's why he's struggling a little bit).

If you go with coop, (which i prefer), it might be a good idea to get burns as a platoon vs lefties in pitcher parks... :wink:

To late but I had just pondered this issue for myself. The answer would be related to the specific managers philosophy for that team. As noted Cooper as stronger against lefties while being better defensively but his onbase % is lower while hitting poor against righties.

I chose Ripper this time because I wanted balance and the higher onbase. Other times I went Cooper but offset him with the Avila or Valentine/Ennis type of player.
