Does Anyone else suck as bad as me????

Postby Essex Moosemen » Fri Feb 10, 2006 10:55 am

I haven't really seen Frank Bailey suck yet. I don't always think his teams are that good but he wins...

I agree---sometimes it really makes me cranky  that I just keep getting crunched by him, and I don't really see why his teams are so dominant.

I'm with Goldwater--this is about picking your team and having fun with it whatever happens. I don't see why it would be that much of an accomplishment to buy rating guides, and build your team "by the book" and win every time. I've had a few decent teams and one championship in ATG. It may have been dumb luck--but it was that much sweeter because I didn't run it through the NASA computer before I built it. If it's all just reduced to a formula than what's the point?

Rant over. Sorry.

"Not since I took up golf have I gotten this much aggravation for $24.95."

I have 80+ teams , have made the playoffs 13 times with alot of early exits . Only twice have my team gone all the way to satisfaction . Right now just about every team I have going is in 4th , 2 in 1st . I went through a streak where I was in the hunt or leading my division only to tank in the last week . It gets old going 8-16 for 5 nights a week and 16-8 once a week and 12-12 once a week .

To the quoted statement above: I used to have and hold down a nice 7-8 handicap . 2 knee surgeries later its now a solid 18 . Suck suck suck !

Essex, my Friend, we are on the same page. You said it much better than me. Hey, some of these guys, Petrosian is one, that has this "game" down to a "fine science." That`s alright. 8) rob55, Coach, grindi, and nev. I have been in leagues with all of these guys. They always have great teams. 8) But, old Goldwater keeps coming back for some more. 8) Forgot B.O.B.B.Y. These guys are good. 8) Mr. pete is another one that I have played. Puts good teams together. I guess my point is, as long as you maintain your salary cap, manage what you have to the "best" of your ability, and have fun doing it, let the chips fall. Sorry, talked too much. :) :D

You're an active manager doing your best.

That's all I look for in opponents.

Tho I wish you would have traded me Cobb in Fling III

I've missed the playoffs against a ringless batch of owners, and slid into the playoffs in a league with the best of them. Only to get slapped about by a 104 win MM team

And....I was down to a 6 handicap in '92. Secret was I was out of work for the summer, with a generous severance package. Lots of golfing. Went back to work and hello 20 handicap again.

All of this has given me an idea.

What do you guys think of starting a new league strictly for guys "who suck". We can agree upon the requiremnets, i.e. lifetime winning pct. < .500.

We can call it the "No Rating Guide Nerds Allowed League".

Interest?

We have Ring Fling ##, currently at the 4th iteration. No ATG II champions allowed. We don't check winning percentage.
In 6 weeks, Ring Fling V will be getting going, and at least one opening will be there, since there are no repeat winners in Ring Fling. :D

Some guys with several championships are under .500. They truly do not suck, they are merely inconsistant.

My teams are now 4, yes 4, games over .500. As of today I am a combined 1748-1744. I think I will unintentionally be giving Kriff a run for his money....

Hey guys, speaking as someone comfortably over .500, there is no need for rating guides, spreadsheets, Diamond Dope (sorry Adrian) or any other esoteric number crunching mechanisms to be successful.

All you need is good German beer. :D

That and applying the tried and true Munich Man card evaluation system--

Pitching-- [b:58cc555618]BOLD [/b:58cc555618]= BAD[/color:58cc555618]
Hitting-- [b:58cc555618]BOLD [/b:58cc555618]= GOOD[/color:58cc555618]
