Unless someone has a better idea, I figured we could just steal the system that is being used on the Tour:
1 point for each regular season win
10 points for winning your division
5 points to the Wild Card
5 points for making the Finals
5 points for winning the Championship
Any thoughts?
Another thought that has crept into my noggin' is that it'd be nice if we could switch up managers/divisions form season to season... try to make sure that we're not always in the same division with the same 3 managers. One possibility would be to assign divisions by seed. Say, have the top 4 point getters in the East, the middle 4 point getters in the Central, the bottom 4 in the West. This would have the added benefit of providing the lower point getters the opportunity to get back into the hunt for the overall championship. But this might be very complicated to implement as I forsee starting the next season when were half-way through the previous one.
Again, any thoughts?

I think I will make my predictions when the smoke clears from my office desk and I have some time to muse from my always busy schedule on Thursday. I lucked out...that's it. It was one of the most lousy autodrafts I have had over 102 teams. It was easily bottom 10. Salvaging Bonds from the waiver wire along with Joe Mays should have this team compete. My SP is solid. My bullpen is a bit more shallow than I would like. The offense is pretty decent. I have a few what I term second-tier players like Aramis Ramirez (waiver wire pick) and Ray Durham (another wire pickup) to go with the few I drafted like Myers, Cruz and Sosa.

My starting pitching is solid but my bullpen is weaker than normal. The starting pitching is typical over what I have used successfully in New Comiskey. It should be interesting to see what HAL does with the pen. I had some great seasons from Matt Anderson in the past. In the past couple years, however, HAL doesn't like to use him. HAL may not have much of a choice with this bunch. The whole key with the offense will be the steroids combination of Bonds and Sosa. Some of the supporting cast of characters are decent when it comes to the bats. The presence in the infield middle with Durham and Vizquel weakens the offense a bit.

A Coors Field team with a unique twist. This manager invested a lot in starting pitching with a cheap bullpen. The starting pitching runs out of steam in the 4 and 5 holes of the 5 man rotation. The bullpen is pretty mediocre and will have problems holding a 10 run lead in the late innings. On the other hand, the offense is pretty magnificient. Every hitter is a great for for Coors Field. This team has the best overall offensive punch in the division. This team has a well-balanced and multi-weapon attack. The offense may make up for the lack of clutch pitching.

I've played and have won a number of times in PacBell. I gave up on it because it is a more difficult/greater challenge stadium in which to win. The pitching for this team in pretty solid. It should do well at home. On the road in a hitter's park will be a different story for this staff. Too much boom-boom is on those pitcher's cards in the presence of the ball park effect homerun. The offense is steady but dull. This team will need to have a high batting average to win games because it lacks slugging percentage. There is no big bat to hit the much-needed tater on occasion. A Jekyll-Hyde team indeed will be dominant at home but starved on the road for victories.

This team in rather intriguing since it will play in the unfriendly confines of Wrigley Field. I like the starting pitching. It is an excellent fit for Wrigley. On the road, the pitchers may get lit up like Christmas trees in hitter's parks with a more even balance between left and right hand hitters. There is way too much invested in the bullpen. While the bullpen is decent, the HAL of 2001 is beyond the control of any manager. The offense is decent for Wrigley. However, it needed some more pop in the lineup. This team will lose a few too many close games as the season unfolds.
CENTRAL

Stud relievers coupled with dud relievers is the way to win at Coors. The SP are your usually lineup of suspect wiffleball/slow pitch softball league pitchers. The bullpen is a magnificient work of art. It is one of the best I have ever seen in 2001. If HAL deploys these guys right...watch out. The offense is solid for Coors Field with a good well-balanced attack and deep starting lineup which should score more than its fair share of runs. If the cannon fodder, punching bag rotation gets yanked fast enough, the pen can hold and win games with the explosive offense behind it.

The pitching is very solid both in SP and RP. Coffee stole most of my Comiskey pitching strategy so he can go [b:477646beb2]CENSORED[/b:477646beb2] himself. The pitching has no weak links and should do well against any manager's rotation. The offense is excellent in the infield but runs out of steam in the outfield. Any hitting team will challenge this one in its home ball park. The record this team has in close games will make it or break it. It seems that this team fell just one impact hitter short of making a better run for the division flag. This team will compete for the wild card because it gets 60 chances to beat up and lay waste to the projected third and fourth place teams in this division.

A rather interesting team is this one. The pitching is horrible but the offense is rather solid. Aside from Schilling, there is no pitcher in the mix that any manager can rely upon to win. Tom Gordon is solid as a closer. On the other hand, the setup pitchers all hail from Suck City. I love the offense this team has in place. This team will score more than enough runs regardless of home or away. It is a question of whether or not this team can keep opponents off the board. Personally, I think not. This team will be competitive. The question is will it win enough.

This team is pretty horrible and will serve as a doormat in the Central Division. Not sure why any manager would want to go with a 3 man rotation with Omar Daal and Chuck Finley splitting starts in the 4 hole of the rotation. Having Rivera as the closer is one thing. Using Jeff Nelson as a setup man is another. Randy Johnson will do well but have a losing record with this group. The offense is very poor and will have some difficulty scoring runs on a consistent basis. If this team does not lose 100 games, this manager should consider it a moral victory.
WEST

This is a very solid team throughout both the pitching and hitting sides of the ledger. Some of the SP will have some problems with the ball park HR on their cards. The pen is solid for New Comiskey. The offense is well-balanced and very explosive. This team will score runs at both home and the road. This is the best overall New Comiskey team in this league. Be that as it may, I do see the potential of the Angels menacing this team.

The offense is a really nice fit for PacBell. The hitter cards of this team are loaded with hits and some pop. This team will put up some runs at home and away. This team has a shot at winning the division title. It will compete for the wild card.

This team has a very good 5 man rotation although I find the bullpen rather suspect. Too many reverse LHP does not give HAL many options. The offense is pretty solid and will score some runs. However, some of the proposed position platoons leave me scratching my head to the point of leaving large divots of hair and scalp at my home office desk. This team will be competitive. However, it is too unexciting to snag a playoff berth.

Once you get past the starting pitching this team has, you are looking at some very slim pickings when its comes to any real impact players. The offense is pretty inadequate and won't score many runs. Fortunately for this squad, the ball park effect HR is only 1-8. This team has an excellent chance of losing 100 games during the regular season.

Coming from a guy who's managed a gazillion 2001 teams to a winning percentage of about 800%, guess we'd all better take heed. C'mon boys, let's make some deals!
Needless to say however, there are 8 or 9 of us who hope your way off! :P
I'm alot more atuned to the 2002 and 203 seasons, so maybe I'll be able to handle this next time around.

The Alexx Team Exposed
1. Jeter, Derek (R) SS
An excellent pick at SS. For whatever reason, I didn't pick up Jeter much in 2001. Jeter has an excellent combination of OBP, hits, some power, base stealer, good speed and defense. Very questionable having him in the leadoff spot. Typically one of the best two hole hitters.
2. Abreu, Bobby (L) RF
Good against RHP, sucks against LHP. He needs a platoon bad. Mateo would have done the trick against LHP. Questionable having him bat in the two hole.
3. Edmonds, Jim (L) CF
One of the great underperformers in 2001. Can't hit LHP. Has problems hitting for average and power against RHP. Needs a platoon bad. Questionable having him bat third.
4. Lo Duca, Paul (R) C
One of my favorite picks in 2001. He was shunned like the plague early. He now has cult status in 2001. Better in the 5 hole than cleanup.
5. Floyd, Cliff (L) LF
One of my favorites in 2001. A stud in any park. His natural position in the batting order would be the 3 hole.
6. Paquette, Craig (R) 3B
A nice pick of the last resort when you can't find anyone else. Of very dubious value hitting in the 6 hole.
7. Martinez, Tino (L) 1B
My favorite budget pick at first base.
8. Burrell, Pat (R) DH
:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: Enough said...if this guy hits his body weight, I will be impressed.
9. Polanco, Placido (R) 2B
A rather underrated player in SOMBB period. Good fallback if all else fails at second base. Has a great number of GBA on the card.
If I was the maanger of this team, my first job would be to move the team to Guam and hope for the best. Here is my batting order:
