Always interesting when these worlds collide. Tonight I face a very formidible opponent in the start of the playoffs. I have had success and struggled against power teams in the past. Always curious and wondered about your experiences with this on both ends.

Dean,

I tend to gravitate towards extreme teams (both ends of the spectrum), so this happens to me a lot. I don't really think any team has a particular advantage except home field which can mean a lot in these situations.

What it seems to boil down to is whether the hitting team is hitting or not. Hitting teams seem to go thru hot and cold stretches. If the bats go cold at the wrong time, it's over for the hitting team. But, conversely when the bats are hot, even Pete Alexander can't seem to slow them down.

Bottom line, my experience tells me it's still a 50/50 crapshoot.

I agree with Coach, if the hitting team is hot..."FORGET ABOUT IT"!

All else being equal, I'll take a hitting team over a pitching team in the playoffs anytime. I've had some good pitching teams make the playoffs, but can never get 'em to advance. Usually go out in three, with 1-2 runs scored for the series.

But then, there's folks who know what they're doing, and that's another matter . . ..

your team is much better i think (so logically, you will lose)

good luck.

(seriously, IMO, i don'ty think he has enough pitching to win )

I might be in the minority here, but I don't consider your opponent a real bomber team. I like you in 5. :)

I was expecting more of a bomber team as well....

American Dreamer should bring home the gold.

In the old ATG I used to run a pitcher vs. Hitter team league where the six pitching teams couldn't have any hitter over 3 million and vice versa for the hitting teams. There would be two of each team in every division.

The hitting teams cleaned up every time.

Well it's come down to game 5 like I figured it probably would. Pfiester vs Mayer in my park Griffith. Mayer shut me out in game 1 so hopefully Pfiester will show his true form.

On to the finals!

It was a grueling 5 game struggle but this team is going to the finals. Pfiester hurls a 1-0 shutout with a little help from Tincup. Next series should be tough as well.
