Calling all ECK-sperts...

I've only had him a couple of times, and he's performed horribly for me. Thus I assume I use him improperly. This time I have surrounded him with a strong three man bully:

My instincts tell me to set bullpen to normal closer setting, set Eck at don't come in before the eighth, put him in both closer slots, and put Fryman and/or Wyatt in the setup slots. It seems like that might limit his innings which could make him not worth his price tag. Or maybe not.

Anyone that has some advice for me please chime in.

Work him to death. Even fatigued he usually lights out. You should get at least 125 innings from him....

Agreed, a fatigued Eck is better than a rested Garber (a cult favorite), Hernandez (no C rating!), Beggs, you name em, Eck is just better them any of them.

ive found eck to be extremely effective in high single parks ie. '86 fenway. you have a huge advantage because eck has no bp singles on his card which negates the fatigue factor. pitch him hard and often, he should get 40+ saves for you.
