Mickey Cochrane: Best spot in the order?

Oh, man, don't get me started on Derringer. On 11 completed teams, he has a .612 winning percentage for me.

(But I doubt he performs that well for others, so best just to stay away from him after this. ;) )

I only use him on smallball teams. Invariably I seem to bat him 5th or 6th. Just feel he is to slow to be at the top of the order and I usually have a couple of better hitters that I prefer to bat 3rd or 4th, often Cobb and Speaker for example.

I presently have Cochrane on 3 teams. He is batting 2nd on one team 3rd on another and 4th on a 3rd. He is one of the few hitters that can literally bat anywhere in a lineup. Certainly if you have him batting in those spots your hitting is not ideal but Cochrane is very capable of being used in any spot in a lineup.
