Seriously Pedroia for MVP? really??? I mean the stats certainly do not warrant it. I don't get it? Yes the BA was high, the OBP was ok, but what slugging? I mean Manny outhit him in half a season with Boston! I just don't get any reason why, other then the Boston homers (i.e. the super fans who can't see objectively and only see Boston good, others bad).

and if Pujols can win off a 4th place team... so don't give that argument.

I'd rather seen Longoria win it, better team, better stats

I actually thought Morneau deserved to win it. He didn't have the stats like Pujols did, but like Pujols, I think he really defined the spirit of what people consider the MVP. He truly was the most valuable player to the Twins, and if they did not have consistency as a run producer, there is no way that Minnesota would have remained competitive. Mauer was good, too, leading the league in hitting, but he is a "soft" hitter. Just 25% of Mauer's hits were for extra bases, while 40% of Morneau's were XBH.

Pedroia isn't a terrible choice, but I think he had quite a bit of help in Papi, Manny/JBay, Drew, and obviously, Youkilis. In fact, I'd put Youkilis ahead of Pedroia.

My Top 5:

1.Morneau
2.Youkilis
3.Pedroia
4.Quentin
5.K-Rod

Coming from a Yankee fan who has to listen to the Red Sox Yahoos daily in his sports card shop, YES, absolutely Pedroia deserves the award. The guy was simply amazing all year long. #1 in hits, #1 in doubles, #2 in BA, #10 in obp, #17 in ops, #27 in rbis driving in guys like Julio Lugo and Jason Varitek in front of him, all the while playing a steller 2nd base. And watching him all year get hit after timely hit, yes, well deserved. He was the most complete player in the AL from a winning team. It's not always about the homeruns and rbis. The pick is sure less surprising than in other years, and certainly more justified than the robbery that took place in the NL.

Pedroia finished 1st in AL and Utley finishes 14th  in the NL.

I guess the talent in the NL is just that much better than the AL.

I'm not so much upset that he won the MVP. Although,If I had a vote he would have been 4-5th on my list. But I agree Stoney, Utley gets 14th and is superior offensively and defensively. That seems strange to me.

The only 2b that Utely is better than with the leather is Kent (and hes like 48).

Seriously...Utely is no dazzler with the glove

Pedroia has the #'s and the intangibles...he deserved it.

Utley is not good with the glove. But offensively he is a force.

I admit that I'm a Phanatic but I do try and be objective. I'm not suggesting he should have been NL MVP or that he should win a Gold Glove but give him credit for being a good fielder.

There are enough experts who feel that Utley is a good fielder. He finished 3rd in the balloting for best 2B here,
