truly disgusted, take this game and shove it

Postby fuqshaq » Thu Nov 27, 2008 12:57 am

my team won 100 games and had the most wins in league
2nd best team and wild card team each with 91 wins
best team in 3rd division with 82 wins
I had to play wild card team with 91 wins instead of team with 82 wins
3 of my starters go down with injuries in playoffs, 2 with low frequency injuries on their cards
HAL doesn't follow my platoon, plays LHB vs LHP in 9th innining, even when avoid LHP is checked on their cards
HAL puts in my 2 worst mop up RP's in decisive game 5 of playoffs with the game tied in the middle innings, after taking out my ace who was on slow hook vs. my opponents #5 pitcher.
My 2 worst pitchers then give up the decidieng runs in game 5 with the score tied

All in all TOTALLY UNREALISTIC, F#### this game

 I think if you check real baseball uses this same matchup policy. Team with the best record plays the wild card team. In addition you were still 9 games better than the wild card team. Something tells me that if you had won this series this matchup would not have bothered you at all.

TOTALLY UNREALISTIC, F#### this game[/quote:71128c57d7]The first player, Fred Lewis, had 157 real life ABs and is a 2 injury. It is also totally unrealistic to have started him on your team all season long. Give me a break. Your other two players (Chris Duncan and Rafael Furcal) didn't get injured until game 5. Furcal was injured in his last AB in the 9th inning so his injury did not hurt your team in the least.

Injuries are a roll of the dice. Everyone has the same odds of getting an injury to a player. If you use players like Lewis, who have a 2 injury or greater you are playing the odds. Those players generally produce more for their price but also run the higher risk of injury. If you elect to use them they are great when they play but can bite you in the playoffs or down the stretch just like what happened to Lewis.

cipress winners IP H R ER BB SO HR PC ERA
B.Webb 3 1/3 7 5 4 1 3 1 71 4.22
J.Broxton LOSS(0-1) 3 1 1 1 0 1 0 39 1.69
S.Proctor 1 1/3 2 2 2 0 0 1 21 13.50
J.Romero 1 1/3 1 1 1 0 2 1 12 2.25

Broxton and Romero were your two cheapest RP. Webb was losing 5-1 in the 4th inning when he was taken out. Broxton pitched very well for you and had a playoff ERA of 1.69. Romero wasn't awful and was not the reason you lost game 5. The final score was 9-5 so the 1 run he gave up didn't cause you to lose the game. His playoff ERA was 2.25 so he pitched well for you too. In the end it didn't matter what RP were used in this game as your team did not score more runs than your ace Brandon Webb gave up.

I understand from your league mail that you are a 10 year old kid. Stop being a cry baby and be proud of your 100 win team. The team with the best record in the league is not just handed the championship trophy. You still have to win playoff games to earn it. It is not easy to win 100 games like you did. Congrats on a tremendous team.

I had a team...
Won 84 games. Wild card. Worst offense in the league, but second in pitching.

Injuries? Played the semi-finals with *no* shortstop and two OFs out.

I won it in 5.

In the finals I lost my starting 3B, my starting 2B, one starting outfielder for the first (I think) four games, and then another outfielder went down in game four - some guy named Ty Cobb.

I won it in 7.

The funniest thing about this rant id that the outcome is totally realistic....injuries are part of the game in real baseball and strat and they effect the outcome of games in both arenas.

happy Thanksgiving!

Yeah, man I am with you. I remember this league two seasons ago where this team won something like 22 games in a row to make the playoffs. Then they went on to make the World Series...... and lost. Oh no,.....wait a minute,.....that happened in REAL LIFE! Well sometimes fact is stranger than fiction.

Dear LM Bombers:

CHECK AGAIN

In the 7th inning of game 1 , Donnie Murphy batted againd Burton. Burton is a RHP and Murphy has checked on his card AVOID RHP. Murphy can't hit RHP

In the 9th innining of the same game Sosa batted agains Isringhausen. Sosa has avoid RHP checked on his card as well.

My age has nothing to do with it. Just b/c u are older than me doesn't make u rite.

I lost that game 2-1.

Pitching my 2 mop up guys in a decisive game 5 of the playoffs with the score tied is ridiculous. In real life Webb would have been left in longer. Broxton would have pitched longer. And certainly Jenks would have been brought in before those other clowns that HAL pitched with the game on the line.

Like I said, just b/c u are older than me doesn't make u rite.

would a real life manager in game 5 of the playoffs pull Brando Webb early? Pull Broxton the best set up man on the team and put it Cameron and Romero, the 2 lowest price worst pitchers on the team with the game tied? Leave Bobby Jenks on the bench? I DON'T THINK SO.

U people like the bombers like to fool yourselves that this is realisitc so you will feel good when u win

But this is pure B.S.

MY AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT
JUST B/C U ARE OLDER THAN ME DOESN"T MEAN U ARE RITE

I think playoff injuries are very realistic...

Lets recall...

1951 WS Mantle hurts his knee

1985 Coleman gets run over by the tarp

1988 Kirk Gibson overcomes an injury to hit a HR...great example of an injured guy coming back in the middle of a Strato series to PH.

1990 Eric davis lacerates is kidney...never the same again

just a few off the top of my head.
