Idanred, no you cannot platoon with a 1000 OPS hitter. No 1000 OPS hitters in starting lineup. There is an explanation of the platooning on this same page a few messages back. A platoon is not "averaged." You can platoon 2 of the same OPS and it only counts as one player. Different than averaging the OPS of the two players.

You can have an OPS hitter on the roster but not in the starting lineup, only as a bench player.

....and no the Phillies don't have any great hitters but some above average hitters and some great pitchers!

AeroDave10's rule nomination for season 10

Postby AeroDave10 » Thu Dec 11, 2008 1:14 pm

Minimum requirements for team eligibility:

Carded to franchise

OR

Career totals with franchise:

Hitters: 2500 PAs
Starting pitchers: 1000 IP
Relief pitchers: 250 IP

I think these rules would go well with an unlimited salary cap (or at least $125M) and DH.

Advanced 200/DH 5/10/20

[b:ecc47a35d2][u:ecc47a35d2]Games 1-81[/u:ecc47a35d2][/b:ecc47a35d2]

Every player on your team must have an OBP =/> .325
Every SP must have a WHIP =/< 1.40 and RP =/< 1.50

[u:ecc47a35d2][b:ecc47a35d2]Games 81-162[/b:ecc47a35d2][/u:ecc47a35d2]

We'll set a certain time, and any player who ever played for your franchise is open play. It's basically a mid-season frenzy.

Season 10 rule nomination

Postby majicmg » Thu Dec 11, 2008 5:43 pm

* $60 million roster restricted to players carded to your team.

* 5/10/20 waivers.

* Frenzy.

* 5-man pitching rotation with NO SP*s, at least two of which are left-handed.

* No starting players up the middle (C, 2B, SS, CF) with better than 3 fielding range or a +2 arm.

If we can do $200M leagues (as Pjatscfy proposed), I'd definitely prefer that to $125M.

I'd originally made $125 million the max salary cap. When I was thinking about this theme, I put together the strongest roster I could for some of the weaker franchises. There were a couple that had a hard time spending $125 million (I think the Orioles and Twins?). And they were at risk of not being able to really make it to $125 million if they lost a couple of their higher priced players to another team. A $200 million cap would leave those teams without much hope of being competitive. Admittedly, my first look at those franchises was quick and I may have missed high priced players that were available to them. But until we're sure that the weaker franchises can spend that much we should stay with a max of $125.

There's been a couple of suggestions about 5 man rotations with no SP*. There are alot of SP* in ATGIV. Some franchises may not have 5 non* SP. I don't think the Giants do and Cincinnati has only 5, doesn't give that franchise any choice at all.
